All three cards this week are Lower Arcana and of the numbered, non-court level. What this tells me is that this week is one of implementing what we’ve learned and watching the progress of what we've put into practice over the last couple of weeks. We’ve spent time testing our theories and experimenting with new tools and talents so this week promises to be a calmer space in which to evaluate how things are getting on.

The Centre card this week is the 4 of Wands.

The wands are cards of action and passion and we’ve had some good opportunities to act on ideas, desires and curiosity and to light up things that have been held in the dark for too long recently. The fours, on the other hand, represent times of stasis in which we can take a moment to breathe. These slow spots can come in many forms. They can be the result of obstacles that get in the way of progress, physical fatigue, fun distractions or even just a moment of disinterest. The opportunity here is to; Number 1, rest. It’s important to give yourself the rest you need. And number 2, use the time to reevaluate what’s happening. Like an army commander who retreats to gather strength and intel, there is no dishonor in taking a break in the action to reassess the best way forward. The word on the card itself is Completion and this can be a very good time to give some thought to what back doors or escape routes need to be closed so that the focus is on the future and not the past.

The West card is the 2 of Pentacles.

This card is about the ability to find stability within change and comfort in the flow and movement that is life. In the artwork on the card we see a snake biting its own tail and wearing a crown of mastery and in doing so completing the image of an infinity symbol. The idea is a completion which allows a continuous flow within an understandable and achievable structure. We humans find a great deal of comfort in structure and defined edges and expectations. We like to have an end game and discernible steps to take to get there. This card shows our desire to bring some organization to the whirlwind we’ve been spinning in for the past few weeks. While that spinning confusion has given us the chance to do things very differently and the possibility to act on our creative ideas, it’s been scary and confusing too, bringing with it the need to find the balance in the flow. This slower, contemplative time will be helpful in regaining our equilibrium.

The East card is the Prince of Swords.

By the end of the week we will likely be able to see just how effective and necessary the lull and downtime of the rest of the week has been. Given the chance to look with a critical eye on what’s happening around us, our bright ideas and plans take on a real clarity. For better or worse, we see things as they are, in bright lucidity. This would be a great time to take notes, make lists and plans and play with concepts to see how well -or not well- everything works together. Don’t be surprised to hear yourself thinking or saying, “Hey, I’ve got this crazy idea…” The really cool thing about this is that we get a definite chance to see how well things can work when we look at them with new eyes.

In conclusion;

Although it may seem like things have come to a screeching halt or petered out, our sails have lost their wind, this is not a bad thing. This lull gives us a much needed break as well as a chance to regain our footing and the opportunity to take a good, close look at how things are going. Try not to let the slow down frustrate you. See it as a chance to take a breather and tweak anything that needs to be tweaked, close off anything that drags you down and play with new ideas to add to your repertoire. This break can be refreshing! Go jump in a lake or run in a field or sit in the sun or read a good (or trashy) book. You deserve the break, take it. ... and remember to play.

TIP of the week: Is a hippopotamus a hippopotamus or just a really cool Opotamus? Jangle your concepts just for fun!
