Word for the week: Implementation.

The Center card for this week is the Prince of Swords.

Moving forward from the Princess of Swords at the center last week, we advance to the Prince of Swords as the central card. If the princesses represent the first step along the experiential journey of their suit, made with the innocence of an open mind and a willingness to acknowledge any and all information on a given topic, the prince has made some decisions about which bits of information work within his paradigm and which do not. This is not to say he has given equal consideration to all options, he surely has not. I see the princes of each suit as the adolescent boys of the Tarot. They’re full of conviction. They’ve found new ways to get things moving - in the case of the Air element of the Swords with thoughts, information management, planning and figuring out whatever puzzle they’re faced with. The scary part about the head-on, no holds barred attitude of the princes -in all the suits- is that they often don’t make certain that they have all the facts before diving into the project at hand. Much like a teenager watching an extreme skateboarding video and then grabbing his own board and heading to the skate park to try it out. His mom’s left behind calling out “wait!! don’t forget your helmet/knee pads/elbow pads!”……. to his quickly receding back. The beauty of this pioneer attitude is that the teen will either hit the wall or the gravel or the edge of the rink and come back for the pads, OR he will blow right by whatever obstacle dares to get in his way. This is how we broaden our horizons. Without the daring, impulsive attitude of this young energy, that wall or gravel or edge would have just been a limit and we wouldn’t know that it was an illusion. The impulsive audacity and boldness of the princes shows us ways to overcome things we didn’t even realize were limits.

The West card is the 7 of Wands.

The suit of Wands represents the element of fire and reflects our passion, our devotion, our drive and our connection to One/Universe. Within the flames we find our creativity and the connection that binds us with all life and all existence. From this primordial web comes our recognition of a Self greater than the cellular structure which contains it. The large wand shown at the center of the card can be said to represent the spine or snake energy which combines with time to create evolution. The six wands held in balance by the seventh show energy flowing in all directions and, like the chaos of the creative process, seeks a cohesion and balance from which specific direction can be determined and utilized. What this tells me is that we have some very powerful creative instincts this week and we’re fortunate to have the daring prince of Swords who’s unafraid to walk into the flames, grasp the power and take on the challenge of implementing a plan of action.

The East card is the 9 of Wands

A good offset for the 7 this 9 shows how the balance between our dreams and desires and their viability and application in reality. Again we see the larger wand holding 8 smaller wands in balance, however here we see a directionality to the creative energy of the smaller wands. Like a weaver who creates warp as a foundation for holding the weft together this 9 sets a more balanced base form which to weave increasingly intricate design. The prince’s application of logic to the fiery creativity of new ideas shows in the more settled energy of the nine here. He has accepted the structure of the warp and can now set his vibrant patterns into reality.

In conclusion;

Plans seem to have begun to take shape and develop into a more physical form. There’s still a great deal of fiery energy but a daring intellectual influence has taken hold with a determined focus on applying facts and proving theories. We’ve truly been thinking “outside the box” and our expanded understanding of the situations around us has given us a platform on which to prove our theories. I see this as is proof that we’re beginning to see things as they can be as opposed to how they have to be.

Have a creative week!

Light, Tory

TIP for the week: If you’re feeling frustrated try to imagine a T. Rex folding a fitted sheet.
