What is Metronidazole?

✍Metronidazole~is a drug of the nitroimidazole group that is used to treat infections caused by parasite of protozoa and a few bacteria.

What health problems is Metronidazole drugs used for to treat?

What should I know before taking Metronidazole for treatment?

✍People with allergies to metronidazole,Tinidazole or Secnidazole should not use this medicine.

✍ People who have consumed Alcohol, diets or medications containing propylene glycol,disulfirami etc. in the past 14 days should not use Metronidazole.

✍People who are taking other medications such as vitamins, Minerals ,traditional medicines, other medications etc. should not start metronidazole treatment without informing their health professional.

* People who have been taking medicines like warfarin,lithium,busulfan,cimetidine ,Phenytoin and phenobarbital and have conditions like with Metronidazole should not use this medicine unless they inform their health professional before taking it.

✍Pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant should not use it during the first 3 months of pregnancy without consulting a health professional.

✍A woman who is breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed should not use this medicine unless she consults a health professional.

✍Store the metronidazole medicine at room temperature away from hot and humid places.

How should I take Metronidazole medicine for treatment ?

✍ Use it exactly as prescribed by your health professional.

✍ Do not use this medicine in large dose quantities for long periods of time.

✍Metronidazole medicine can be used with or without food.

✍If this medicine is in liquid (suspension) form, shake it properly and measure it and take it as prescribed by your doctor.

✍If this medicine is available in Tablet form, swallow it whole with water without chewing or crushing it.

✍Metronidazole medicine for adults can be taken daily or within 24 hours at 8 hour intervals (500mg~750mg) three times depending on the condition for days (5~10).

✍Metronidazole medicine can be taken for children at 8 hour intervals (35mg/1kg ~50mg/kg) three times per day (5~10) depending on the condition.

✍Metronidazole medicine can be taken intravenously in the clinic or hospital when you cannot take it orally.

✍Reduce the dose of metronidazole medicine by 50% for people with kidney problems.

'✍After starting metronidazole drugs, we should not stop it until we have completed the dose until we see improvement in symptoms as the disease may become more severe with the drug.

✍ We should not use this medicine with other people who have similar symptoms.

What are the side effects of metronidazole drugs?

* Dryness of the stomach.

* Nervous system problems such as mental disorders,inflammation of the brain and spinal cord membranes, pain in the arms and legs and seizures. People who take this medicine while having a fungal infection get worse.

* Decreased white blood cells in people who have had blood problems.
