The Manhattan Yacht Club officially welcomed guests back for the seasonal opening of The Honorable William Wall, the floating clubhouse anchored just north of Ellis Island that has become one of New York Harbor’s signature summer destinations. Hosted by owner Monty Fortenbaugh, the evening brought together a lively crowd of entertainment personalities, athletes, media figures, and longtime supporters of the club for a memorable night on the water overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

With warm weather finally arriving in New York City, guests gathered aboard the historic floating venue to celebrate the beginning of another harbor season filled with sailing, sunsets, and waterfront events. As boats moved through the harbor and the skyline began to glow at sunset, attendees enjoyed cocktails, music, conversation, and panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan.

Originally built in 2002 by the Manhattan Yacht Club, The Honorable William Wall was designed as a Race Committee platform used to start and finish sailboat races throughout New York Harbor. The floating structure was also created to give spectators a front-row experience of the races directly from the water. Over the years, it has evolved into a unique seasonal gathering place where sailing culture and New York nightlife naturally come together. Throughout the season, guests are able to watch sailboat races held Tuesday and Wednesday evenings as well as Saturday afternoons while enjoying one of the most scenic locations in the city.

The opening celebration drew a stylish and well-connected crowd from across entertainment, sports, fashion, and media. Among those in attendance was Dr. Ellen James, whose appearance brought elegance and warmth to the evening’s festivities. Also attending were SiriusXM “The Punchline Academy” hosts Da Inphamus Amadeuz and MrzGetatem, who spent the evening connecting with guests and enjoying the harbor-side atmosphere.

Actor and athlete River Mason Eromosele also attended the event, continuing to gain attention as one of the young rising names balancing both sports and entertainment. Television personality and celebrity stylist Pilar Scratch was also present, bringing her recognizable fashion-forward style and personality to the opening night crowd.

Throughout the evening, guests could be seen taking photos along the deck, networking with fellow attendees, and enjoying the laid-back but elevated atmosphere that has made The Honorable William Wall such a staple during New York summers. The combination of harbor views, sailboats moving across the water, music playing in the background, and the city skyline surrounding the venue created the kind of setting that feels distinctly New York.

Unlike traditional nightlife venues, The Honorable William Wall offers something different — a chance to escape the pace of the city without ever leaving it. The floating clubhouse has built a reputation over the years as a place where longtime sailors, professionals, creatives, and visitors can all come together in one space to enjoy the harbor and experience New York from a different perspective.

The evening was captured by photographer John Sosa, whose photography documented candid moments throughout the celebration, from fashionable arrivals and waterfront conversations to scenic shots of the harbor at sunset.

As the Manhattan Yacht Club begins another season on the water, The Honorable William Wall continues to remain one of New York City’s most unique summer destinations. Blending sailing tradition, skyline views, and a welcoming social atmosphere, the floating clubhouse once again opened its doors for what promises to be another memorable season in New York Harbor.

Many guests described the evening as the perfect start to the summer season. From first-time visitors experiencing the harbor venue for the first time to longtime Manhattan Yacht Club supporters returning for another year, the opening night carried a sense of excitement and familiarity. The relaxed environment encouraged genuine conversation, laughter, and connection while the sunset over the water created a memorable backdrop throughout the night.
