Stubborn fat is real and it’s a serious problem. Believe it or not, this is an issue even people who work out religiously experience. Whether they’re a fitness expert or live a sedentary lifestyle, almost everyone around you has had an issue with stubborn fat, guaranteed. Most commonly, the afflicted areas include the abdomen (particularly the lower belly), the love handles, under the upper arms, underneath the chin, and the upper back. So, how do you deal with it? For Dr. Salama, the answer is easy…Liposuction.

Liposuction removes excess fat deposits and fatty tissue through suction. Using a cannula, Dr. Salama goes underneath the skin to suction out that stubborn fat. The cannula allows him to be precise and thorough, and is flexible enough for the procedure to be performed on many areas of the body including the aforementioned commonly afflicted areas, the hips, thighs, knees, calves and more.

At Elite Plastic Surgery, 360 Lipo is a very popular procedure because multiple troubled areas are targeted. It includes Lipo of the upper and lower abdomen, the upper and lower black, and the flanks; thereby, slimming, reshaping and contouring the torso, enhancing the body’s natural figure.

Nowadays, there are several different types of Liposuction techniques. Typically, the technique that is used is really a matter of preference. Dr. Moises Salama employs Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL) for all Liposuction surgeries. PAL does not require as much physical effort as traditional Liposuction, using reciprocating motion rather than rotating motion once the cannula is inside the tissue. This allows for a better experience for doctors as well as patients. Unlike ultrasonic and laser devices, PAL does not require heat avoiding the risk of accidental burns.

Dr. Salama also uses Vaser Lipo, or Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction (UAL), to get high definition results. His extensive training with all forms of Lipo helps him determine the best method for your needs and goals, rather than using a “one-size-fits-all” approach for all patients. When used on the appropriate patient, Vaser Lipo can define the musculature virtually anywhere in the body providing high definition results to the treated areas.

As with every procedure, during the initial consult, Dr. Salama evaluates patients to ensure they’re a good candidate for Liposuction. He checks the afflicted areas making sure there is no excess skin in addition to excess fat because you can liposuction stubborn fat, but you can’t correct saggy, hanging skin with liposuction. That would require another procedure involving the excision of excess skin, such as a tummy tuck, arm lift, bra-line lift, etc., depending on problem the area.

Unlike with a tummy tuck, Liposuction does not remove the excess skin of the lower abdomen or help with tightening of the muscles. However, Liposuction may be combined with a tummy tuck and commonly are when patients have undergone significant weight loss or have difficulty returning to their pre-pregnancy shape. So as a rule of thumb, if you suffer from excess skin and fat, abdominoplasty may be the better option for you, but if you have good quality skin and only pockets of unwanted fat, then Liposuction may offer you the best body contouring results.

Now, while Liposuction may sound like a panacea for stubborn fat, it’s important to understand it’s not a substitute for regular diet and/or exercise nor does it treat obesity. In addition, Liposuction will not eliminate cellulite. However, since cellulite lies under the skin, Lipo may help to reduce it.

Good candidates for Liposuction must suffer from excess fat deposits (no hanging skin) and have a realistic vision for their body contouring. They are healthy, smoke-free individuals, who have a positive outlook on life and no serious medical conditions or life-threatening illness that may prevent the healing process.
