A Guide to Surviving Quarantine Part 1

I know everyone is on edge since the first signs of COVID-19 but now we see it everywhere. Instagram, Facebook, Google, Grocery stores, Everywhere. Although we have to tolerate it you shouldn't let the virus scare you, yes it can be scary but as long as you and your family stay clean during this time it can help reduce your chances of gaining the disease. Yes the disease can spread either way but reducing it lowers your chances so please be precautious during this time. I know most places are closed during this time and you are lonely or your family is driving you insane, but you can still take care of yourself during this time.

Do Activities You Enjoy

If your city is on lock down during quarantine then it's even harder for you to do outdoor activities you enjoy. I know it can be frustrating staying indoors for who knows how long but it doesn't have to be a bore the entire time. Explore different activities you haven't had the chance to partake in because you were always too busy. Now that we have ample times on our hands we can take time to enjoy the things we like.

I know everyone is different so we enjoy different things but if you're not too sure what to do I'll list 20 things for you.

1. Cleaning your house (I know it may not seem fun but it can help clear your mind when you clear your space)

2. Cooking new dishes for yourself or others (Cooking can be a limited option depending on where you live but if you have the resources I urge you to try cooking something new you will enjoy)

3. Reading (Some can find it boring but there is nothing like a good book to expand your mind)

4. Writing or Creating a Journal (Writing in a journal can be very therapeutic and relaxing. It helps your mind clear so you can focus)

5. Watching Tv Shows (If you were ever too busy to catch up on a show you really wanted to watch now is the best time to enjoy it)

6. Limiting Social Media (Now this one I believe you should limit because there is a lot of fake news going around to scare people about quarantine. Limit your social media to pages you enjoy and not too much drama)

7. Spend Time With Others (If you are quarantined with others spend time with them, if you are alone call your friends every now and again. They can't ignore you now they're quarantined too)

8. Love Your Pets (Please still take of your pets during this quarantine they deserve love too. If you're afraid to walk your pet around the neighborhood just let them do their business in the front yard or get puppy pads)

9. Play Hide and Seek (If you live with someone or your pet play a game with them to pass the time even if you don't have a big living space. You can also play games on FaceTime/Skype with your friends if you live alone)

10. Listen to Music (Try listening songs you enjoy or find new artists to enjoy)

11. Dancing (If you enjoy dancing or want to learn how now is the best time. Try dancing to YouTube videos that show you the steps and dance with others)

12. Learning From YouTube (Learning new things on YT is always a treat and can sometimes be a fun experience. Whatever you are interested in, go for it nothing's stopping you now)

13. Drawing/Art (If you want to practice art or drawing get an old notebook you don't use and go to town. If you are comfortable and if there are resources available go out and get some art supplies for yourself)

14. Crotchet (Learning crotchet is fun and relaxing to learn but don't give up if you don't get it the first time. You can also use this to make money by selling your products online)

15. Painting (Painting can reduce stress and painting with music will make you feel like Bob Ross. Try painting old things you don't use if you don't have a canvas such as a wallet, jeans, shirt, or even your walls. Just get creative)

16. Plants (If you've always wanted to grow a mini garden get a couple of potted plants from online or in store if you feel comfortable. Try a simple plant such as aleo vera, cacti, pathos, or lucky bamboo. See how it flourishes as time passes by all it needs is proper love and care)

17. Self-Care (Taking care of your skin, reading, writing, taking a bath all of these can be considered self-care. Self-Care is just doing tasks that take care of your well being whether it be physically, mentally, or spiritually)

18. Make a Smoothie/Ice Cream (If you have the resources create one of these delicious concoctions. It'll taste yummy especially with a lot of fruits and will be fun to make)

19. Exercise (If you want your summer body ready then go put on your shorts and work out. No need for you to go to the gym, you can try out these home workouts: Crunches, Jumping Jacks, Push Ups, Sit Ups, Wall Sits, Jumping Squats, Burpees, etc. If you want more inspiration try Yt for more ideas I recommend JaxBlade he has good workout routines)

20. Meditation (Wind down from the craziness that's going on outside and focus on your mental health. Praying, writing in a journal, yoga, deep breathing all of these can be considered meditation. Explore and see which options work the best for you)

I hope this list helps but if you need more inspiration try looking online or create a list for yourself to go through during this time. It's all about keeping yourself busy, if you do that you won't be worried about what goes on outside. Just be aware of your surroundings and continue to practice cleanliness during this time.

If You Want to Go Out Just Be Aware

I don't think it's bad for us to go out while quarantined, I've done it a few times myself but be sure to still practice cleanliness. Most supplies are few by the dozen now a days but if you have access be sure to clean yourself and your surroundings as much as possible. Wash your hands after touching things in a store or after shaking someone's hand, just because you're clean doesn't mean they are.

Enjoy your time outside and get as much sunlight as possible. We are like plants and need sunlight to help us grow so when you have time soak yourself in sunlight like a cat. Don't be afraid to spend time with others, I know being in quarantine can be lonely just be safe.

Please be aware that there are idiots coughing and licking objects just to spread germs so if you buy something from a store clean it when you get home. If you can't carry hand sanitizer with you can create it, all you need is:

  • aloe vera gel
  • rubbing alcohol
  • a small container to hold it in
  • Try to sure your ratio is at least 80% alcohol and mix it together
  • I suggest a YT video to make sure your hand sanitizer actually kills germs

Take Care Of Yourself

Please take care of yourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually during this time. Practice loving yourself and being kind to yourself. Be sure to take care of your body by keeping it moisturized and clean. Be sure to clean your face at least twice everyday and try to keep it moisturized if you have dry skin. (I will make a story about skin care as well) Exfoliate your face at least once a week and see what your skin needs to flourish.

Clean your body beautiful people, it is your temple and remember your temple can crumble. Try to detox your body and drink plenty of water. Eat fruits and healthy snacks you like to upkeep your health. Wash your body please, and use soap. Be sure to put on lotion or some type of cream to keep your skin smooth and moisturized.

Take a break from social media every now and again it's designed to distract us. Do some meditation to clear your mind and kept it at ease. Be sure to be kind to yourself, tell yourself one thing you liked about yourself today. Try to not scold yourself too much or beat yourself up during this time. You deserve love and appreciation just as much as anyone else.
