Patients with epididymitis often have pain in the scrotum, which may radiate to other areas, such as the groin and lower abdomen, if the condition is severe. Pain may even involve the kidneys among some patients, causing kidney pain.

Because the innervation of the kidneys and testis belongs to the same reflex arc, a lesion in one can cause pain in the testis and kidneys.

Other symptoms of epididymitis:

1. Scrotal pain. Patients with epididymitis often feel swelling pain and heaviness of the affected scrotum. Pain also appears in the lower abdomen and groin, intensifying when standing or walking.

2. Enlargement of the epididymis. The affected side of the epididymis will become swollen, and there will be obvious pressure pain. When the range of inflammation is widened, both the epididymis and testis will swell, and the boundary between them is ambiguous.

3. Induration. Patients with epididymitis will have induration, which occurs mostly in the head or tail of the epididymis. It occurs in the tail in most cases.

4. Spermatic cord thickening. The spermatic cord on the affected side is thickened, and there is a feeling of pain when touching.

5. Other symptoms. Patients with acute epididymitis may also experience sudden high fever and elevated white blood cell count seen on blood tests.

Epididymitis can lead to kidney pain but may be linked to other causes.

What are the causes of kidney pain?

1. Physiological reasons.

For example, overwork is a common cause of kidney pain. The high-intensity pace of life may cause the body not to get a good rest, which will damage the function of the kidney over time, causing kidney pain. This situation can be improved by rest and rehabilitation training.

There are a lot of waist diseases that will cause kidney pain. Lumbar muscle strain or lumbar lesions can cause pain. If not treated promptly, it can lead to kidney pain.

2. Pathological causes.

1) Nephritis. Nephritis is mainly caused by bacterial and viral infections, which can cause pain when bacteria and viruses enter the body. Patients whose kidney pain is caused by nephritis need to go to a regular hospital for prompt treatment. Therefore, people must increase body resistance daily to prevent nephritis.

2) Stones. Kidney stone is a prevalent cause of kidney pain, and ureteral stone is also common. These stone diseases can cause severe pain, which severely impacts the patient's life. Therefore, it needs timely treatment. Otherwise, it will become more and more serious.

3) Renal cyst. Clinically, we find that kidney cyst leads to a relatively high incidence, which can lead to renal interstitial damage, resulting in kidney pain. This situation is also quite serious, and it needs timely treatment. Otherwise, the condition will become worse.

4) Tumor. If kidneys grow out of tumors, it will certainly cause kidney pain because the kidney has a large volume of benign and malignant tumors that will appear in compression pain. This situation is hazardous because malignant tumors will invade the psoas and cause pain in patients.

5) Hydronephrosis. The causes of hydronephrosis are the stone diseases mentioned above. If not treated promptly, it will cause hydronephrosis, resulting in increased internal pressure on the kidney, which often leads to kidney pain. The causes of hydronephrosis are various and complex, which needs to investigate and analyze the causes of hydronephrosis. Prompt diagnosis and treatments are required.

Acute epididymitis usually causes kidney pain and testicular swelling due to infection. Inflammation can cause falling pain in the testicles, and touching the testicles with your hands generally worsens the pain. Some patients will also have chills, a high fever, and other symptoms. Acute epididymitis requires active treatment. The key to treatment is to select sensitive antibiotics, such as quinolone antibiotics like levofloxacin.
