The sun shines every morning and bestows its positivity and strength to us. Everything that exists in this Universe has a certain vibration and energy attached to it. The biggest source of natural energy, the Sun, offers us copious health benefits through a method called sungazing, which unfortunately hasn’t been fully explored by humankind. Sungazing is the process of gazing at the most abundant source of energy, the Sun, at a certain time during sunrise or sunset to rehabilitate balance and harmony in your mind, body, and soul.

History Of Sungazing

"O, Sunshine! The most precious gold the be found on earth." ~Roman Payne

The roots of sungazing go down to ancient civilizations where Indians, Egyptians as well as Tibetans followed this wonderful method of soaking in the radiations from the Sun. But like we all know at times, some of the most incredible things fade with time and lamentably stay hidden under a rock. This practice too with time got buried deep down and wasn’t talked about until Hira Ratan Manek, an Indian guru, decided to do in-depth research on this approach. He went on to study this technique on himself for 3 long years and ended up surviving only on sun rays and water. He then became the sole intellect who brought this highly beneficial, and magnificent practice to the surface, so much so the process was coined after his name as HRM sungazing.

Tips For Sungazing

The safest time to view the sun with the naked eye is less than 30 minutes after sunrise and within 30 minutes before sunset. This is when the concentration of UV rays in the atmosphere is the lowest, making it the least harmful time. As you begin to add this in your daily routine, intend for ten seconds on your first time then keep adding ten seconds as you go every day until you accomplish one minute, the highest recommended time to sungaze.

Smile when you look at the sun, This invokes high vibrational emotions within you such as happiness, joy, excitement, and love.

Stand barefoot on the ground keeping yourself in direct contact with mother Earth.

Remove contacts or glasses and don’t sungaze through windows.

Benefits Of Sungazing

When I started my own process of sun gazing, it was very slow going. I had to break my belief that it was hurting my eyes since I was so programmed by the world to avoid the Sun. After about a few weeks of sungazing, I started to see a noticeable change. My energy levels spiked, I felt more light within my body, and my overall happiness increased.

You feel very meditative when looking at the sun. It slows down your heart rate and allows you to enter into deeper brainwave states. Normally, we reside in Beta state so coming down to Alpha and Theta is very good for us. This gets you away from the monkey mind and settles you down to the speed of wisdom. Here are some benefits to sungazing.

Spiritual Benefits - Raises vibration, increases energy levels, elevates psychic and intuitive abilities, activates the third eye, and connects to higher dimensions as well as help develop and strengthen problem-solving skills in life.

Improves eyesight as well as strengthens the immune system.

Manages and controls stress, promotes a positive mindset, and boosts confidence.

Heals various physical ailments that are easily found in today’s modern environment.

Increases awareness, clear thinking, and the ability to be present at the moment.

Grants wishes - While gazing at the Sun, focus on your wish and ask the Universe for guidance to fulfill the wish.

Supports and improves the reproductive system as it supplies the optimum level of Vitamin D required for the body.

Enables weight loss by decreasing appetite. This is supported by the observations made by today’s sungazers who stated that they have lost extreme weight through the process and their appetite for material things has also reduced significantly.

Gazing at the sun can change your life forever, but don't just take my word for it. Do your own research, connect to nature, indulge in the practice, and feel the difference it makes in your life. Remember to take it one step at a time. It is a wonderful journey and one that is worthwhile.

"The sun does not shine for a few trees and flowers, but the wide world's joy." ~Henry Ward Beecher
