What is erectile dysfunction?

The term potency is the generic term for male erectile and procreative ability. Almost half of all men suffer from erectile dysfunction. As men age, the number of those affected increases steadily.

Fortunately, however, there are some options available for improving potency, such as the use of Viasil. The following article explains which other methods can be used to counteract declining potency.

What is erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is described as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection and, consequently, the inability to have sexual intercourse. Erectile problems affect about two million Polish men. In the past, erectile dysfunction was called impotence. Currently, however, this term is not used in the context of erectile dysfunction, because impotence indicates the irreversibility of the problem and has a pejorative character.

Erectile dysfunction can take three main forms:

persistent and complete inability to have sexual intercourse;

The inability to obtain the erection necessary for penetration;

an inability to maintain an erection long enough to have full sexual intercourse.

Potency and nutrition

In general, it is known that eating large amounts of red meat, as well as foods rich in sugar and fat, is not necessarily beneficial to health. Such an unhealthy diet increases blood lipid levels as well as the risk of obesity and diseases such as arteriosclerosis or diabetes mellitus. These diseases in turn promote the development of impotence.

In contrast, a balanced and healthy diet has a positive effect on potency. In order to prevent erectile dysfunction and increase their potency, men should eat a lot of fresh and natural foods that are not industrially processed. Especially recommended in this context are whole grain products, nuts, fish, vegetables and fruit.

A special potency-promoting effect is attributed to foods in which many antioxidants are contained, such as potatoes, citrus fruits, nuts, tomatoes, apples and blackberries. It is also important to consume as much fluid as possible throughout the day, ideally in the form of unsweetened tea or water.

Potency and sport

Regular physical activity also has a positive effect on erectile function. Endurance sports such as jogging or hiking are particularly suitable, as is targeted strength training of the muscles of the thighs.

Potency also benefits from training the pelvic floor muscles. For this purpose, the pelvis should be alternately tensed and relaxed for about ten seconds every day, whether standing, sitting or lying down.

What else influences potency?

The development of erectile problems is promoted by the consumption of nicotine, as this impairs arterial function and penile blood flow. Studies have already shown that erectile function improves when smoking is stopped. Thus, in the case of erectile dysfunction that already exists, giving up cigarettes can still have a positive effect afterwards.

In addition, however, potency is also severely affected by stress and psychological strain. In this case, meditation, relaxation exercises and possibly a visit to psychotherapy can help.

Incidentally, masturbation does not have a negative effect on male potency - in fact, the opposite is true. However, this is only true if masturbation results in satisfaction and this is not done under duress. Masturbation is positive, for example, if erectile dysfunction is present due to psychological reasons and if masturbation increases the impaired self-esteem. In addition, masturbation is helpful in developing a better feeling for one's own body.

Drug treatment of erectile dysfunction

Basically, a doctor must make the decision whether a drug treatment of present erectile dysfunction is useful. Affected persons who have been suffering from problems with their potency for a long time should always seek medical advice for this reason.

The doctor will try to identify the possible causes, for example psychological stress factors or previous illnesses. In addition, drugs themselves can also be the reason for erectile dysfunction.

If there are no medicinal or physical reasons for the potency problems, this is an indication of psychological triggers. As a rule, drugs that increase potency are prescribed only when all natural measures, psychotherapeutic procedures or herbal remedies have shown no effect.
