How Nutrition Saved Me

Finding Holistic Nutrition Changed My Life

This has taken me a while to write, and a while to be able to publish this. This my story of how I found holistic nutrition, and why it means so much to me.

So of course, like most teenagers, I had kind of a difficult time in high school, not academically, not socially, but mentally. I had confidence issues, I'm not sure where they stem from, but I had them hard. And for the most part they were all about my body. I also had very bad eating habits. In terms of, my attitude about eating, and just the actual type of food I was eating (which probably was not helping my mood at all).

And I know a lot of people would be probably be surprised that I had body image issues looking at me in high school. I now can say that I was in amazing shape, I was in gymnastics and I was lean. But back then, I did not believe that. I just always felt bad about my body. I thought the answer was working out to the point where I just HATED it, and also restricting myself, because I knew nothing about nutrition and what was going to make me feel better about myself. It was a rough time.

After high school, I had NO idea what I wanted to. I decided to take a year off and just work and try to figure it out. Didn't really help. But I ended up taking a personal trainer course, thinking that that's what I wanted to do. I didn't even fully complete this course. I didn't go through and finish the exams to get the certification, I don't know why, it just didn't feel right.

Then I finally came across CSNN, in a Facebook promotion I think, not knowing at all what natural nutrition really was, but it caught my eye. I've always been into nutrition in a small way, I'd research things for myself whenever I was curious and I "tried" to change my diet and habits (during the program I realized that what I was learning on the internet was not helping me at all). So I read more about it, and just made a snap decision and went for it, so I applied, got accepted, and started the program. After the first month, I was hooked. I have to admit, it was a bit intimidating learning about nutrition in a whole new light, but I was obsessed (literally obsessed) with learning everything about nutrition and preparing to fully change my lifestyle. And then I implemented everything I learned into my lifestyle, I slowly changed my diet, adding things, and taking things out every once in a while, until my diet did a complete 180 degree turn and is what it is today. This did not happen overnight, it took the full year while I was in the program, but it's SO worth it to stick to it and keep going. I think taking this program, and changing my lifestyle was the best thing that could've ever happened to me. For multiple reasons.

One

Having the knowledge to know what I should and shouldn't be eating. It has lifted so much weight off my chest, and I no longer worry about what I'm putting in my body because I know it's all good things. You know how sometimes you eat something that you "think" is healthy and then the next day find out that it's actually not healthy and you hate everything. Yeah that used to be me, but no longer, because I have the knowledge.

Two

Not worrying about food has given me freedom. I used to be obsessive with food, but in a bad way. Now, I'm still obsessed, but in a healthy way where I'm not restricting myself anymore.

Three

I have confidence. Changing my diet has changed my confidence incredibly because the food I'm eating doesn't leave me feeling bloated and gross anymore. Because the food I'm eating has drastically changed my mood as well, I'm so much happier. Also in learning about holistic nutrition, we also connect the body, mind, and spirit, in our education, and learning about the different chakras, and really tuning into my own intuition and feelings, have made all the difference.

In conclusion, holistic nutrition, has basically saved my life. That might sound cheesy, but it legitimately saved me mentally, and for sure made a difference in my health. I will always be grateful for that. And is also why I want to pass on my knowledge to other people, and help other people realize the power of it, and if it can save somebody else's life, well then I've done my job.
