One day last week while shopping at Walmart, I met a young woman who had vitiligo. She was standing in line behind me and apologized for not staying 6 feet away.

Mind you, she was wearing a mask - one of those see thru plastic shields. She had a beautiful smile, pretty brown skin, dark eyes, shiny long black hair and perfectly shaped pearl white teeth. But her hands had white blotches over her fingers and hand (only one hand).

She seemed to be very self-conscious about her appearance. She told me she has an autoimmune disease called Vitiligo. "But it's not contagious like Covid is;" she said to me.

I already knew about Vitiligo, and the emotional stress attached to it. I've never had Vitiligo, but my daughter has it. So, yes, I've researched treatment for the autoimmune disease. Here is what I've found.

What is Vitiligo?

According to SkyMD vitiligo is an autoimmune disease disorder where your body attacks your own pigment cells. The pigment cells create melanin, the skin's pigment which colors one's skin and protects against harmful UV rays. Without it, the skin may appear whiter or lighter.

Vitiligo isn't harmful, but it can cause psychological stress. Certain medications can help slow or stop Vitiligo, but restoring the skin color is the complicated part.

Use the Homeopathy Way of Treatment

What is Homeopathic Treatment for Vitiligo?

According to Dr. Shah, homeopathy is an alternative method of treatment, based on nature's law of cure, namely "Like Cures Like". Homeopathy tries to treat the root cause by correcting the dysfunction or overactivity at the level of the immune system.

It stimulates the skin pigments melanocytes to generate melanin that helps to regain the normal skin color.

Homeopathic medicines are effective, safe, and give long-lasting relief without side-effects. It selects homeopathic medicines based on the individualistic approach with a detailed case study.

It stimulates the natural process of melanogenesis (the process of melanocyte formation) and stops the destruction of melanocytes.

Most homeopathic treatments lasts from 8 months to 2 years, but most patients respond to the homeopathic treatment in 4–8 weeks. However, if you've had vitiligo over 10 years, the homeopathic may not be effective in treating your disease.

Common Homeopathy Medicines for Treating Vitiligo

Arsenicum Sulfurafum

Phosphorus

Silicia

Carcinocsin

Psychological Factors

Psychological factors such as grief and depression - anxiety may lead to an imbalance in the functioning of the immune system and act as a trigger for vitiligo. It is so important to keep your immune system as strong as possible by taking good care of your health and paying attention to your diet and stress levels.

Real beauty comes from within. I know of a 45 year-old lady who lives in Tucson, Az that doesn't let her vitiligo (it's on her hands only) get her down. She works on positivity so much, that she forgets she even has the skin problem. I don't know if it will spread to other parts of her body or not. Hopefully, she can build her immune system stronger, to keep the vitiligo from progressing.

Life Force claims that 90–95% of Vitiligo patients show improvement with their treatment plan. Improvement includes stopping the progression of the disease. Life Force offers several alternatives to confront vitiligo.

There is hope for Vitiligo suffers. Aside from natural cures, there are surgical procedures. Tattooing is one of them - to my surprise. With body art being so popular today, one could hide certain areas of the body and stop the progression by building your immune system. But you may not want to tattoo your body and risk putting all those chemicals inside of you. I know I wouldn't. It would be simpler to work on getting your skin pigment to bring back its natural color.

I hope this information has helped someone who has this autoimmune disease to find hope and peace dealing with it.
