The rise of veganism has opened a lot of minds and raises a lot of questions about whether raising animals for food is harming our planet. It is no surprise that this is the single greatest source of destruction to our environment. Not only is it harming our bodies and creating world hunger, it is a massive source of greenhouse gases, rain-forest deforestation, water pollution, and land destruction.

Which one is richer in nutrients? Meat or plants?

Animal protein isn't as diverse in terms of nutrients; meat has two main macronutrients—protein and fats. With little to no vitamins, fiber, or minerals, meat is not as sustainable for our bodies as plants.

Meat can sit in the body for long periods of time, causing our bodies' digestive systems to slow down making us feel tired, bloated, and unsatisfied. Looking deeper into animal protein, meat is acidic which causes the bodies immune system to break down; this increases the risk of infection and chronic disease. Meat is loaded with toxins, animals are fed low-grade food when alive, pumped with toxic chemicals, which in return is digested by humans.

Plants, which are rich in nutrients, packed with fiber and protein, can keep us feeling focused, strong, and sustain us for longer periods of time. Plant protein is also loaded with vitamins and minerals which the body needs.

How Eating Meat Impacts Climate Change

I think we can all agree that climate change is real right? Scientific evidence now indicates that animal agriculture is a direct source of our earth depletion. Raising animals for food uses 45% of the earth's land and responsible for 91% of rainforest and land destruction. Cows produce 150 billion gallons of methane per DAY. Methane has a global warming power of 86 times that of CO2 (carbon dioxide). Livestock is responsible for 65%.

Global Hunger

82% of starving children and adults live in countries where food is fed to animals which in return being eaten by western countries... Do you see the problem here? People across the world are starving to death with little resources for food and water and WE as a western society are consuming an obscene amount of animal protein and wasting our earth's resources because of it.

The over-consumption and resources in our society are painfully destructive. We all talk about solving world hunger, perhaps we should start by looking at our own food choices. Everyone loves a good statistic and concrete facts in order to make an educated decision, but is that really creating the change? I understand that we are all creatures of habit and that habits are hard to break especially when the food industry is constantly informing us that meat and dairy are important for our health...

Are meat and dairy making us sick?

If meat and dairy are so healthy and important to our bodies, then why are we sicker than ever? If we look at the high-risk killers in our society, it is evident that cancer, diabetes, and heart disease are the top rated sources. Whats the cause of these awful ailments? Saturated fats, toxins, cholesterol, the list goes on. The meat and dairy industry beg to differ, considering they dominate and run our food sources, but we all need to look beyond what is being fed to us.

Animal Cruelty

The way our food is being produced is getting worse, with an increase in supply and demand. Factory farming is one of the cruelest industries and destructive industries. No one wants to know where our food is coming from or how it got to the grocery store onto our plates, but we cannot be naive anymore.

We must collectively understand how the slaughter of these innocent beings directly affects our mortality as human beings. This is not about eating for survival anymore, this is about the government running factory farms to generate money and in return make us sick which makes them even more money when we are sent to the hospital.

There is no surprise that this cycle is happening, it's important to look outside of this food pyramid we have been fed to since we were little, which have been past down from generation to generation. Deep down we are all loving beings who love each other and animals. Somehow the road to love has been divided, we cannot see the cruelty which is why we cannot link the cruelty to our hearts.

Conscious Eating

Looking at the rise of a conscious society, the "woke" beings we are all striving to be. It raises a lot of questions of, can we really be a conscious being if ingesting the souls of wounded animals? Can we really vibrate on this level of consciousness and in return eat animals who have been tortured and killed? I understand that no one is perfect, and education is the first step to change. I also know that veganism has a bad wrap on being "in your face" but I believe in a different approach.

In order for us to strive as a conscious society, we must collectively work together. Educate, answer questions, and go forth with the intent for change that creates love and brings people together.

In Conclusion

No one is born loving people and disregarding animals; we all come from love, love comes easier to us than hate. If we have the capacity to love one another, we can create the space for loving the planet, strangers who are starving all around the world, animals, and most importantly our mind and bodies. If we can collectively do these four things, this is the only way we can create the change we want to see in the world.
