Health Hack—Why Bidets Are so Beneficial for Our Health

Myth or Truth

By Sarah Jessica SmithPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

The French invention of the 17th century—a bidet—has been known as one of the bathroom appliances not many people feel comfortable talking about. Usually, when we think about bidet, various touchy subjects come to mind; such as, skin sensitivity, health issues, as well as mobility problems many people experience during life and are not comfortable talking about. However, nothing other than our wellbeing should come first, and if you think you can improve it, using a bidet is certainly an option to consider. Furthermore, by using a bidet, you can also reduce your environmental footprint and make this planet a better place for life.

Improve Hygiene

After going to the bathroom, using only toilet paper doesn’t always remove everything, which can be seriously troubling for you. All the residue that’s left on your intimate parts can cause a plethora of infections and health problems, which is precisely why a bidet is a much better option. By washing yourself after going to the bathroom, you’ll offer your body more freshness and stay clean throughout an entire day. Instead of exposing your skin to a dry toilet paper that is not particularly hygienic, opt for a much cleaner version and improve your hygiene by washing up over a bidet. It’s a much quicker way of keeping your intimate parts clean when you do not have the time to shower as well.

Prevent Skin Irritation

Toilet paper is dry in nature, which means it can cause several skin irritations if used often and too harshly. Therefore, having a bidet in your bathroom would be a much smarter choice. Toilet papers with perfumes and added chemicals in them can be particularly harmful to the skin, causing various irritations and allergies. With a stream of lukewarm or warm water, which you can set according to your preferences, you’ll easily wash away all the residue and keep your private parts irritation-free. With an air-dry feature, you won’t even have to wipe the water off, but you’ll be dry in a matter of seconds.

Eco-Friendly Bath

If you’re going green in various segments of your life, why not make personal hygiene a part of that movement as well. Namely, a bathroom bidet uses much less water than a shower, for example, and it does not require you to use toilet paper either. If you use toilet paper in abundance, flushing the toilet will use much more water, so installing a bidet in your home would certainly be the eco-friendly move. This is especially true if you tend to overuse the toilet paper, due to the fact that it doesn't manage to get you clean quickly and meticulously, and you need more than just one flush to get rid of it. Therefore, you're cutting down on the paper use, which in turn contributes to the preservation of trees, at least to a certain extent.

Great for That Time of the Month

Women struggle with PMS almost throughout their entire adult life, but having a bidet would certainly make that time of the month less frustrating. Keeping the intimate region clean during the period isn't as easy as someone may think. This is especially challenging if the flow is very high and you visit the toilet every hour in need to change. A bidet is especially convenient for keeping your lady parts clean without requiring you to shower completely, but just wash away all the flow that’s been causing discomfort. Forget about using wet wipes with fragrances that will only, potentially, irritate your skin and cause infections. Rely instead on a much better option of washing up over a bidet.

Much Better Option for the Elderly

A bidet is very convenient for people of all ages, but especially so for the elderly. People in their golden years can have trouble walking inside and out of the bath, which is precisely why they should have a bidet and do all of their hygienic needs with a help of that bathroom appliance. Whether we’re talking about the elderly, or people who spend plenty of time sitting, either of them can easily end up with a highly uncomfortable condition called hemorrhoids. The condition is very painful, which is why the use of toilet paper can only cause more discomfort. That’s why a bidet would be a much better alternative after going to the toilet. Good personal hygiene is imperative for getting rid of hemorrhoids and all the itchiness and discomfort that one may feel in the intimate region. Using a bidet will help immensely in keeping yourself clean and fresh throughout an entire day.

Final Thoughts

Personal hygiene is crucial for maintaining overall wellbeing. The first step in maintaining personal hygiene is to always stay clean and fresh. Aside from regular bathing, keeping your private area fresh and bacteria-free is imperative. By installing a bidet in your bathroom, you’ll be able to have a quick wash up whenever needed, while also making sure you save the environment.
