Do you know a major side effect of skipping meals is hair loss? According to several studies, starving yourselves and not consuming food on time can force the body to direct its energy (the little it has) towards essential functions-like helping your heart and brain work-rather than making hair. Hence, it is very essential to take your meals on time. Make sure to include protein-rich food items like lentils, fish, eggs, etc which help in maintaining the hair as it is primarily made up of protein.

Using too much heat on your hair? Well, excessive usage of too many hair styling products can damage your hair in the long run. Overuse of hot styling tools like hair dryers, curlers and straighteners, can make your hair dry, prone to breakage and consequently more likely to fall out, especially if you use them every day. If you still cannot do without it, try to minimize the usage from every day to a maximum of two times a week or even less.

.Smoking and drinking

Several studies have proven that those who smoke and drink report higher rates of hair loss than those who don't. Toxins present in cigarettes and drinks can damage the hair follicles and hormones and therefore its ability to maintain thick and voluminous hair. Besides this, smoking and drinking can also accelerate premature graying.

.Not oiling your hair often

It is very essential to provide that much-needed nourishment to your hair on a regular basis if not daily. Regular hair oiling ensures that your scalp receives proper nourishment along with the important vitamins and nutrients. So, oiling hair on a regular basis can be the ideal solution for preventing premature hair loss and also premature graying.

.Taking hot showers

Love taking long, extremely hot showers? If yes, then you need to stop doing the same as soon as possible. Overly hot showers can cause damage to the scalp. It can cause damage to the essential oils that help to protect the scalp and will eventually result in dryness and inflammation. However, there is no direct evidence hot showers can lead to hair loss, some believe that that scalp inflammation can result in miniaturisation of the hair follicles and thinning hair.
