Every day you wake up, open your eyes, get out of bed (sometimes) and get on with your day. Why do we do this? Is there some consistent motivation secret that you are privy to the rest of us just don't know about? Or is there another reason why we might be getting up with the same routine, day in and day out.

We do these daily routines almost subconsciously, like a perpetual motion that gets us moving forward to the next day and then the next. Truth is, (to borrow a quote from a famous woman I admire, Mel Robbins) that "motivation is garbage". Simply meaning that outside sources may inspire you but they are not responsible for the actions that you take.

Those final results are all you and your free will; your capability is beyond what motivation may inspire you with. So you may be inspired by something motivational (like a bumping playlist of your favorites), but in the end the results are all because of you!

Music adds a little bit extra to our lives, like adding a spicy condiment to the meal that is life. Music get's our bodies and minds moving and can influence our moods almost immediately. Some even start their day with a musical alarm clock or wake up to their favorite song to ease the morning process.

Music helps set the mood for what's about to come and help your mind and body get through the task at hand. When we hear a song or sound we like, we tend to gravitate towards it, as if pulled towards the emotions associated with it.

Especially during a workout, it can be so easy to get fatigued without music to keep your body moving. Music can create a beat perfect for your sets of curls and blocks of lunges. With the right playlist, your workout will never get boring.

Start the workout with a warm up song like "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore to get your blood pumping and your heart rate up. Once your workout gets the reps goings and the sweat flowing, change the pace with "Raising Hell" by Kesha and just - keep - on - going - strong.

Pushing through your workout isn't a product of motivation, but rather a product of your iron will, and awesome musical choices. So you keep your heart rate up and results coming with "Cake By The Ocean" by DNCE.

*Don't forget that it is totally okay to dance during your workout.*

A good playlist will set the mood with fast tempo, loud bass, lots of rhythm and most of all a fun vibe. If you aren't having fun while working out...what's the point? Let's finish off this awesome workout of yours with a song that will be stuck in your head all day, "OK Not To Be OK" by Marshmellow and Demi Lovato.

Now that your heart rate is coming down and it's cool off time, did you know that the song choice here is important as well? The tempo of a cool down song can help you keep your body moving but slow your mind and heart rate down just a little bit at a time. You choose "Be Kind" by Halsey and Marshmellow to help chill your mind during the cool down.

Most of us have been working out at home since the start of 2020 or at least trying to figure out the best way how. It's no surprise that without the normal gym routine, personal trainers and wonder of the group setting, it can be hard to get motivated to workout at home.

I hope this playlist lends a little joy and upbeat movement into your at home workout routine. Happy workout!
