The center card this week is the 8 of Swords.

With the Swords we look at the intellect. They’re the tools of thought, organization and planning. As we look at the image of the eight in the card we see two straight swords seemingly impeded by six other swords of widely varying shapes and sizes. These disparities show us what happens when we become tangled in the thoughts, ideas, intentions and “helping” hands of other people. Often we tie ourselves in knots trying to live up to expectations that we had no hand in creating and as that happens we gradually lose our own ideas and preparations amid the zigs and zags of trying to please others. As you can imagine once we find ourselves tangled up in those lines of thought that aren’t ours we can feel confused and sometimes even fearful. Within this fear and/or confusion we can easily become frozen in indecision. Those around us who have contributed to the interference of opposing ideas can then see us as lazy or uncaring when, in fact, we’re simply trying to find the thread of our own thought processes as they weave through vying viewpoints. With this card at the center it looks like we’ll be dealing with outside influences who seem to think that they’re own ideas are more fitting than the ones we want to develop and are determined to get the last word.

The West card is the Ace of Swords.

This is about the best card that might have come up in this spot. The Aces of each suit represent their suit’s energy in its purest form. What this tells me is that we head into the tangle of ideas and plans with a noticeably clear picture of what makes sense to us. Our thoughts plans and chosen procedures are well aligned and desired outcomes look achievable. So, as we move toward the fractured energy of the eight at midweek one key effective way to meet those interferences is to keep a tight hold on our personal intentions. While it is great to have assistance and support, it’s not so good if we lose ourselves to the intentions of others. The Ace of Swords is often seen as the Sword of Truth. What better tool to have in your arsenal as you meet detractors, non-believers and “helpful” folks who just don’t think you’re doing it —whatever “it” is-- right.

The East card is the 6 of Wands.

The word on this card is Victory and because this is the six of Wands it has to do with the passion behind the plan, idea or decision that has drawn the attention of those us around who think they have a say in the outcome. The prevailing sense I get is that things will go the way we planned thought not without challenge, it is the depth of passion inherent in the fiery Wands that helps keep our focus on the passion within us which sparks the power needed to meet the goal we’ve chosen. The Wands also represent our creativity and our connection to the Divine and higher consciousness. Along with the Sword of Truth we should have all the tools we need to make our choices and decisions a not only a reality but one which carries our intent to remain true to our highest and best.

In conclusion;

This week we deal with distractions that seek to pull us off course. Whether those distractions show up in the form of helpful “suggestions”, forceful demands, or heart-tugging desires/requirements from people in our lives that we want to please in whatever way we can, they’re still distractions. The Ace of Swords and 6 of Wands help keep us focused on the importance of our own plans and needs which, in the long run, will likely accomplish both the things we need and want along with defining the love, compassion or even new boundaries we choose to maintain in our relationships (work, home or boudoir).

Have a steadfast week.

Light, Tory
