Mirror Dragon Tarot

Reading for 3-1 thru 3-7-21

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric, (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

What I notice first about this week is that all three cards are from the Minor Arcana. This means that the circumstances we find ourselves in and the details we face are accessible, workable, informative and will likely give us a chance to utilize our skills and influence. The Minors show us the situations and energies around us that can act as teaching guides. They allow us to learn how to best use our strengths and dispel or embrace our weaknesses to support the larger life lessons of the Major Arcana.

The Center card is the 3 of Swords.

This is one of the cards in the Thoth deck which differs in meaning from the more traditional Ryder Waite Smith system. Rather than being seen as devastating heartache and betrayal as with the RSW, the Thoth shows three swords of the intellect as they connect and become a conduit between outside stimuli and the deductive reasoning of the brain. It’s not so far removed from our emotional experiences as to neglect them entirely but by removing us a step or two from our painful experiences so we can see beyond the veils of emotional upheaval. We escape the forest so the trees are recognizable. With this influence we’re able to deal with things that may have brought us emotional difficulty from a more removed and reasonable standpoint. The key word, as always with the Swords, is reason.

The West card is the 8 of Swords.

This eight has us dealing with outside influences, most likely from others but sometimes from our own doubt or fear (particularly if it’s caused or perpetuated by the desires of others). We find our thinking processes tangled up with outside ideas, opinions or authority, real or perceived, and just plain confusing. If we think back over the last couple of weeks to interactions that were illuminated by the Sun or the inner wisdom and light found within Hermit we’ll find the bedrock on which to stand. There is a possibility that memories have surfaced lately reminding us of past breaches of trust or manipulation which cause us to revisit those uncomfortable feelings. This can wreak havoc on our minds’ clarity but also, kind of, jam us up and give us a chance to slow down and really look at what drives the fear or doubt that the situation brings up. It’s like finding yourself in a traffic jam, knowing you’re going to be late for a meeting or appointment but actually you've been given extra time to hone and polish up the part you play in the meeting. Frustrating but useful.

The East card is the 6 of cups.

While I look at this card I get the feeling that the frustrating slow down or stasis that ties us up in the earlier part of the week has relaxed and gotten sorted out so that heart centered or personal communications toward the end of the week will feel safe, easily understood and actually enjoyable. Conversations flow buoyed by the quiet power we’re able to access by facing and embracing the understanding of where our tougher emotions began and how far we’ve grown since the initial experience. sometimes looking back, from a point of logic rather than emotion can have us wondering what all the fuss was about and sometimes we see just how formidable we are. Whatever the case this week, the weekend promises to be light, clear and pleasant.

In Conclusion:

Although our mood may feel subdued while we decode old emotional hurts and memories of past indiscretions, our thinking processes are particularly acute allowing us to see the root causes and, therefore, the best healing/releasing actions to take. We’re a bit aloof and removed from drama as a whole this week. This allows us to see situations as they really are instead of how all the emotional mud flinging, power mongering or guilt targeting might want us to believe. Heads high, minds clear and hearts calm we can enter the fun, silly, comfortable and pleasant exchanges among friends and loved ones plus more agreeable relations with work or school colleagues for a soft close to the week.

Have a tranquil week.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week: Your pain is the breaking of the shell of your understanding.
