Free Weekly Reading #52 for 2021

Mirror Dragon Tarot

Reading for 12-27 thru 01-2-22

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

Because this is the last weekly reading for 2021 I focused more on the whole year rather than just the last couple of weeks so the interpretations deal with a broader scope than usual. While reading this one, look back at your own experiences of 2021 and see how these final energies resonate with them. Did this last year have a message or lesson for you?

The Center card for the week is the Knight of Cups.

The Knights of each suit represent the most active element of their suit and within this knight, the fiery part of water, we find something of a battle between a fiery male influence and a watery feminine sensitivity. The Knight of Cups has a great depth and the ability to sense the emotions and desires in others. At heart he is compassionate, romantic, emotional and kind, a true male empath. However, because of a reliance on societal norms (this energy is the most likely to give up his own passions to align with others who he either feels indebted to or in order to conform with a larger group) he will often take on jobs, ideals, intellectual strategies and behavioral cues from the larger groups he is associated with. Thus, in trying to fit himself into the mold of outside influence he denies his own deepest nature. The harder he tries to fit in, the more of himself he gives up. Remember the scene in Cinderella where one of the step sisters tries so hard to fit into the tiny slipper she is willing to cut off bits of her foot? It’s often like that for the Knight of Cups.

The West card is the 8 of Swords.

When we look at the image on the eight of Swords we can see that the two central swords, strong, well aligned, sharp and straight must endure the onslaught of outside interference. Like the Knight above, the key issue is outside influence and how we handle it. The eights strive to shape some kind of workable ideal out of the instability of the sevens that precede them and the eight of Swords works towards that ideal via intellect. Unfortunately, the messy details of emotions, resources and creativity inevitably interfere and it can feel like your objective may never happen while you’re trying to integrate and comply with all the wants, needs and demands of those outside influences. To me, this card has always represented quintessential frustration.

The East card is the Princess of Pentacles.

I don’t think I could have chosen a better card to come up in this position with the other two cards in the reading. This princess is the earthy part of earth and an excellent representation of the great, fertile mother. She is strong, beautiful and in deep contemplation of her fertility, the secret she holds within her body. The secret of the future. As with all of us humans, the push and pull of outside influences help to shape the outcome –or birth– of the ideas which our fertile imaginations mold and meld into the desires we express to the outside world. But this princess encourages us to give long thought and consideration to our own innermost needs before we give birth to the possibilities from idea to reality. Though the impact of outside opinions, requirements or desires is demanding and there can be a great deal of confusion and frustration dealing with them, this princess grounds us, bringing us the ability to slow down, take deep breaths and be very certain that our own needs are met right along with those of the people around us. Her fertility can be our umbilical cord to reality that meets our needs.

In Conclusion;

Looking back at all the healing, reevaluating and reconfiguring that the world has had to do this past year, take some time to think about how the needs and demands of others have shaped your own reality. Ask which of your own needs were left unattended. Did you have ideals that got subjugated by someone elses demands? Most of us have had to do at least some sort of catching up, letting go or pushing forward because of the major changes we’ve faced. In looking back on what you’ve accomplished or didn’t accomplish over the past year, pay close attention to the secrets of your future that only you can manifest. Trust your inner voice, the voice of the Princess of Pentacles, and inwardly cultivate what you want, need and intend to create in 2022. Let those around you have their own opinions and acknowledge their “concerns”, then go ahead and make choices that honor your needs. More often than not the outcomes will actually facilitate both.

Have a definitive week to end the year.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week: 20 Years from now you will be more disappointed in the things you didn’t do than the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. Mark Twain.
