Thoth Tarot

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric, (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card for this week is the Ace of Pentacles.

The aces of each suit represent the energy of that suit in its purest form. Like the beginning of a brand new journey the paths laid out before you are pure, untouched by experience, unexplored and fascinating in their mystery. Since this is the Ace of Pentacles we're dealing with resources. The energy of the discs, coins, pentacles resonates with the earth element so we’re looking at the tools we have in the physical that allow us to expand on our less physicality-based notions, ideas and desires. Once we have an idea in our head and a plan to put into action we begin the process of gathering what we need to make that idea a reality. This week we begin the work, we find the time, money, supplies, energy and tools to get down to the job itself. Whether it’s an artistic creation, a work project, a house cleaning, a health regime or having the car tuned up, this week we have the motivation and determination to “git-r-done”.

The West card is the 4 of Wands.

The fours of the Tarot are squares and like to represent the structure and framework of things. They often have us feeling as though we’ve gotten all the contextual aspects and planning worked out and we feel good about stepping up to the next level. It’s awesome that we have this fiery and creative four at the week’s beginning because that tells us we’ve done an excellent job of planning, so when we do take that step into the operation, presentation or assembly of our ideas we know we’ve done all the groundwork for success. Think of it as having written a song. You’ve written the words and music that your heart can feel and as you perform it, the music strikes a resonance in your listeners. The words express the wisdom of your heart and the melody carries them in such a way that the message transcends the words. With the prior planning and work you've done you know it will work out just that beautifully.

The East card is the 4 of Swords.

The Swords represent air and the processes of the mind. Again, as this is a four, it supports the knowledge that we’ve laid solid groundwork. Decisions have been made, directions chosen and conclusions reached so as we look back at what we accomplished during the week things are crystal clear. One thing to keep in mind is that the Swords represent pure intellect divorced from emotional shifts or inconsistency so we see very clearly what the truth is behind or within the creation we’ve brought into reality during the week. The good news is, we see the reality of our own creative process. The not-so-good news is that we may also see the ineffectiveness or even damage caused by things we’ve been side tracked by or dissuaded from up to now. In each case we will likely be looking reality right in the face.

In Conclusion;

This week looks like it will be very productive. We feel motivated to accomplish things we’ve been planning, we find the resources we need to make things work and take on the life we intended them to have and our clarity of mind allows us to see the processes and actions it took to have those things come to fruition. Give yourself permission to feel good about what you’ve done, feel proud of your creations and ride that feeling of a job well done into a playful weekend.

Have a fruitful week!
