Free Weekly Reading #45 for 2021

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

This week, the thing I notice most about the cards is the daring, sometimes impetuous Swords male energy bracketed by the earthy and practical Pentacles females. What an interesting mix.

The Center card this week is the Prince of Swords.

One of the more difficult aspects of this prince is the fact that he represents pure intellect. Ideas, plans, facts and figures fly in all directions and are completely free to project all sorts of possibilities. The drawback to that is the purity of these intellectual ideas. They’re just that, ideas. There is no substance, no practicality. This is an example of a perfect freefall of thought. The ideas and options are beautiful, shining examples of creativity held in dream form without context or structure. As the princes are the risk takers of the court cards, this prince takes the chance that in tossing all his ideas out into the atmosphere, someone else will take notice and actually put the possibility into practice. Enter the princess of Pentacles...

The West card is the Princess of Pentacles.

The Princesses represent the moment of transformation between education and implementation. They’re the new kids, the interns and apprentices. So they’re almost completely blank slates ready to embrace and begin work with the energy of their element. In this case that’s Earth, our resources and physicality. Under her influence paired with the brilliantly idealistic prince we may find ourselves looking for the reality handle to grab onto within gyrating, spinning possibilities. It’s quite possible that the early part of the week will put us in a position to just close our eyes against the whirling menu of options and just trust that the one we’re able to get hold of is the perfect option for the current situation. This princess is all about gestation and manifestation. She is the epitome of the pregnant pause and she carries the secret of the future within her as it grows and begins taking physical form. She is the perfect vehicle for the fruition of ideas and possibility.

The East card is the Queen of Pentacles.

Yay! With this “mother of practicality” we find the experience and wisdom to take the gestating form of the prince’s ideas from the princess and birth it into a reality. In the Book Of Thoth (page 166) --Aleister Crowley says “ She thus represents the ambition of matter to take part in the great work Creation.” This queen is also a great nurturer. She won’t feel satisfied until she knows that every need that this new creation presents is fulfilled and she’ll be stubborn about it. Pay close attention to stubborn ambition towards week’s end and try not to be a “helicopter mom” to whatever project you’re bringing to life. Free will is as necessary for growth as sustenance and shelter.

In Conclusion:

This week idealism and creativity are flying high and seem to coagulate themselves into realities as if by magic, we humans are powerful, manifesting masters after all. So the playfulness and excitement of thinking up new ways to work or relate or practice self care get replaced by their actualities showing up as real life concerns and opportunities. Be ready to take on the responsibility of nurturing what you’ve created and powerful new ways of interacting in the world become a way of being.

Have a week of playful creation!
