Reading for 8-30 thru 9-5-21

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card for this week is the 9 of Swords.

When asked the question, “ which is your least favorite card in the deck?” I have to say this one tops the list. This nine represents strident conformity of the mind to structure, rules and regulations without regard to emotional or spiritual needs. When we deny ourselves something that brings us health, happiness or comfort in favor of “not making waves” or when we allow our best intentions to be subverted by the less honorable goals of others we turn away from the spiritual concept of the highest and best for all involved. I often see this card in relation to manipulation, gossip, back stabbing and criticism. The sharp edge of angry words intended to harm, draws blood damaging trust, fellowship and cooperation.

The West card is the Prince of Cups

This prince is fearless and willing to put his heart out there on the line, to see what’s new, to learn what more is out there in regard to his emotional understanding. Because the Cups represent our emotions, empathy and intuition they compel us to stay open and really feel what’s going on around us. In this scenario, with the 9 of Swords as the central focus for the week, it looks like we may be feeling strong enough to take some significant emotional steps which could result in facing rejection or anger. The good news is that we’re probably feeling emotionally strong enough to face whatever blow-back or denial comes up and realize that the swords of thought that we’ve been following may have led us astray or simply been too restrictive or out of alignment with our true nature.

The East card is the 6 of Cups.

It’s awesome that we have two such powerfully positive Cups cards to bracket the bloody nine. This six signifies cooperation, productive interaction, teamwork and friendship. Along with the confidence of the daredevil prince, this higher vibrational ring of pleasure in the company of others helps tame the anger or vitriol triggered by whatever steps we’ve taken to express our emotional needs. As in fairy tales, it all works out in the end. The thing about fairy tales though, is that they’re made to have a happy ending. We too can achieve a positive outcome if we can stand strong in our feelings of companionship, cooperation and acceptance.

In conclusion;

This week we could face negative reactions to an emotional risk we’ve chosen to take. Anger and rejection are always a challenge but I think that we’re strong enough this week to honor our needs and choices and make decisive arguments for what’s best for our own well-being. Often the act of standing up for one’s self re-aligns relationships to include the strengths and needs of all involved rather than the dominance of any one personality. So… The guidance for the week is to state your truth clearly and if it’s met with a response that you didn’t expect or sparks anger or defiance, try to stand in integrity and look for the lesson to be learned about that relationship. With the six of Cups in the east, it seems that honesty and determination lift us to a higher understanding of what works for the collective rather than singularity in the diverse emotional attitudes we encounter. Acceptance of your own desires plus what works for all is key and communication is the vehicle for action.

Have a week of honesty and acceptance,

Light, Tory

TIP for the week: Integrity is telling myself the truth, and honesty is telling the truth to other people. Spencer Johnson
