Mirror Dragon Tarot

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card for the week is the 4 of Cups.

The fours of the Tarot are cards of consolidation and manifestation. In their positions on the path, the beginnings, the acknowledgement and the cooperation of the ace, two and three lead to a plateau at the four, of completion and reflection. The fours often represent a time of stasis or stagnation as we stop to take a look back at what we’ve created. Because this is the four of cups --our intuition, sensitivity and empathy-- we find ourselves immersed in rich and heady emotions. The feelings we experience now are full and deep. They’re likely to be to the point where we begin to seek the “relief” of action. We may even create some explosive encounters or situations tailored to light the fuse so we can get things moving. This can be as positive as it can be negative. For example; ideas and plans we come up with this week may run into opposition which could bring about the need for us to take a stand in defense of our decisions. It could also be that we finally dredge up the courage to ask for support with emotional, physical or intellectual dilemmas. In any case it’s a good idea at this time to be ready to stand strong amid emotionally charged situations. Keep your eyes on the strength of your knowledge and creativity and try to allow the strength of your integrity to keep any opposition from getting sidetracked by emotional distractions, tangles and quagmires.

The West card is the Ace of Wands.

This week our central card is bracketed by two aces. The Aces represent the energy of their suits in the purest possible form. They’re cards of new beginnings, inspiration and determination. With the Ace of Wands in the west we look at unfettered ingenuity. With the passion this fiery ace inspires, our ideas arc and spark with a deep desire to be made real and the drive to make a start and take action fully pushing us to DO something. The hard part about that drive is the compulsion to do anything just to get things to move. At this time dreams seem so close to the surface of reality the desire to dive head first into pure possibility can be almost overwhelming.

The East card is the Ace of Swords.

With the passion of fire pushing us into action, having this particular ace as a balance is fortuitous. Here we have the intellectual fortitude to find actual, fact-based information to temper and mold our ideas, and the passion they inspire, into a logical framework. The Swords represent our cognitive thought and our ability to communicate. What more powerful pair to direct our deep need to take action this week than the fire of creativity and the air of intellect? This is where the magic of the collaboration between inspiration and human thought takes place. Think about it, all the modern innovations we find so common today would have been considered pure folly and impossible magic just one hundred years ago. Before that, someone who foretold the advances we’ve made would have been thought insane or even evil.

In conclusion;

Ideas and plans take center stage this week along with some deep and powerful emotions. Notions of integrity, compassion, integration and teamwork will go a long way towards bringing our creative and passionate ideas into a framework of reality by applying knowledge and clear communication. Utilize your passion by using facts and speaking honestly. The reality of our dreams is just as close as taking that first step.

Have a creatively inspired week!
