Free Weekly Reading #27 for 2021

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card this week is the Priestess.

The Priestess shows us that we’re constantly surrounded with the light of Spirit. When I was 17 I had an epiphany. I was driving to school after the winter holiday break and thinking about Christmas which led to thinking about religion and the feelings of angst I’ve always had about how people are drawn together and separated by the ideas of all the various pantheons. It seemed to me that while the basic tenets were almost universally about love, connection, compassion and the ways in which to behave towards our fellow humans, the disparity between the “rules” (the thou-shalts and thou- shalt-nots) negated just about all of those tenets. So, I’m driving along thinking about these dichotomies when a voice that I could swear was in the car with me said, “God is Love.” My eyes flew open and I started to laugh. It was so simple. And it made sense. God, Universe, Buddha, Great Spirit, Mohammed, Goddess, etc; they’re our cohesion, our interrelation, our capacity to love. That's how I see the Priestess. While the High Priest, as the male influence of the pair, seeks to find definition and a way to communicate this Connection, the Priestess is the connection itself, the cohesion.

The West card is the Ace of Wands.

In this card we find a clear experience of will and determination. The Wands represent our passion and our intent. As the West card in this triad the ace shows that we have the intent and the depth of passion to look directly into the fire and allow that fiery strength to help us define our connection to whatever pantheon we align with. Our determination to maintain integrity and face the Devil of disconnection and adversity who pops up here in the East is strong and likely to open our eyes to some things that we may have been putting off looking at or dealing with.

The East card is the Devil.

The Devil card shows us how we get caught up in the materialistic aspects of our time here on Earth. At times we find ourselves seeking fulfillment in ego based things like money, possessions, required adoration, physical gratification, emotional manipulation, etc. We Are humans after all and the temptation to wallow in drama, mind altering substances, addictive behaviors and escapism --and by that I mean whatever that we do to shut down our feelings and over stimulated sensitivity which can be anything from food to sex to work or sleep, gaming or binge watching television-- can be very powerful. The good news is that with the Priestess and the Ace of Wands in the mix, the angel on our shoulder speaks more loudly than the little devil and we're given a clear choice to act in the way that suits us at the time.

In Conclusion;

This should be a week of realization and the clear definition of our own integrity and Universal connections in the face of a strong draw to run away, blow off steam and wallow in our physical and not-so-spiritual pursuits. Remember the dark defines the light and vice versa, try not to be too hard on yourselves and enter into whatever bawdy eccentricity you choose with eyes open and the grace to own up to mistakes if you find your actions have caused discomfort or disruption.

Have a high octane AND high vibration week.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week; May your glass be ever full. May the roof over your head be always strong. And may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.
