Mirror Dragon Tarot

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card for this week is the 8 of Wands.

As the image on the card suggests, this week energy and imagination are high and striking out in every direction. Energy is so high in fact that it may feel as though there’s a chaotic craziness to it. The good news is that chaos is very good at pushing us up out of our ruts and beyond the boundaries of our comfort zones. Generally when we find ourselves looking at what’s going on around us from an unfamiliar perspective we also look for ways to define and assimilate the new experience. Fortunately with our imaginations running on high we’re likely to look more willingly at unconventional ways to handle whatever chaotic situation we may be facing. Unfortunately, although our imagination is arcing and sparking, tossing up outrageous things we could do to change things up, we also need to guard against delusion. This highly imaginative time can lend itself well to dreamy fantasies which are detached from the reality of the situation and could set the stage for some unwanted consequences. So, while fantasizing is great, pulling logic into your thinking along with it can go a long way to avoiding criticism, misunderstandings or outright opposition.

The West card is the Queen of Cups.

Under her influence the dreaminess and emotional foundations of our situations are highlighted. While this can be great as it allows us to sense what’s needed emotionally by those that we’re interacting with, it also makes us very sensitive to any negative energy they may be experiencing. Because we’re so sensitive to the feelings of those around us at this time, it can be easy to “own” that energy and think that originates within ourselves. For those of us with an empathic nature, learning how to separate the tough emotions and even physical pain that we feel in others from what’s actually ours. For this reason, the chaos of the week can be even more confusing.

The East card is the Emperor.

The Emperor is the symbol of the divine male. He represents all that we see as masculine in our abilities (both men and women) and in our thinking. He's a powerful influence for decisions, action, exploration and creation of laws and governing. Though he can be very controlling, his decisiveness is what we need this week. Our fantastical thinking and our emotional devotion to it combined with a high energy looking for outlets and direction are the perfect challenge to the Emperor in all of us. I can’t help thinking that this is a great time for some Universal truths to be realized. With the Emperor’s strength of Will and decisive reasoning we may just be able to create some amazing new projects, relationships, financial endeavors and plans for the future. The new moon on the 29th also tosses in its energy for new beginnings and opportunity.

In Conclusion;

As chaotic and emotional as this week may be, with the strength of the powerful Emperor we can use our Will and determination to get things done. The sticking points and challenges will be in losing the thread of reality as we watch our imaginations soar. For instance, focusing your desire on someone else’s spouse, thinking that you can do your job better than your boss and telling him or her to stick their guidelines where the sun doesn’t shine or deciding that you can make great time during summer travels by driving at ninety five miles an hour will, most likely not have the desired results you seek and could have some serious blowback. Yes, open your imagination to great things! Just try to remember you’re still a living, cellular being working with the physics of the Earth along with the feelings of those around you. Enjoy! Responsibly.

Have a fantastical week! (Just try to remember you’re human.)

Light, Tory
