Free Weekly Reading #18 for 2021

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card this week is Art.

This is one of the cards in the Thoth deck which is a bit different from the RWS. Similar to Temperance, the basic influence is one of purification and as a Major Arcana card it speaks of our journey on life’s path. Our transcendence from mortal towards the divine. The focus now is on cleansing, release and the discovery of the Divine within. Often in these times of purification we find that the Universe gives our processes a little push and unless we’re very clear in our intent and in tune with our inner growth towards wisdom, these pushes can be rough. For instance; you’ve been working on writing up a proposal or term paper and your computer goes wonky dropping a large chunk of what you’ve written forcing you to rewrite or you’re hanging wallpaper and discover that the first strip was measured incorrectly so all the subsequent pieces are too causing you to re-do or re-think the whole project. In order to overcome the anxiety and frustration of having to rework our designs we have a chance to embrace the lesson. In finding the Zen of work as a means to a goal or a deeper understanding of the subject of your paper or the “bigger picture” of your proposal in conjunction with the company, we may strip away layers of inconsequential busy-work and find the core of work's purpose.

The West card is the 2 of Swords.

The twos of the Tarot are really about the recognition and perception of our ability to wield our Will with the energy involved. With the Airy two of Swords we begin to align with and implement the concept of living in the moment. In truth, we actually only live within the moment we are experiencing. When we can disregard past successes or failures as well as future expectations and or demands to live in just one moment, anxiety and concern drop away. I think it’s fortunate for this card to be part of the energy flanking Art as it shows a tendency for us to have a good, intellectual grasp of the challenges (lessons) we may face during the week.

The East card is the 2 of Pentacles.

The recognition and balance of the two again this time under the influence of grounding and practical Earth. With this energy we see the value of keeping our intent and expectations “real” and allowing our sense of existing in perpetual moments to be our foundation. Although the pentacles also have a propensity for stubbornness, with the intellectual understanding of our moment to moment progress we can allow that stubborn solidity to live in each moment and create a solid though flexible foundation on which to build (or rebuild as the case may be this week).

In Conclusion;

We may find ourselves in challenging situations this week and whether we’re forced to rework, rethink or remake something we’ve been intent on finishing or we’ve found the patience to just flow with a changing situation, the opportunity for inner growth is prevalent. When frustration rears its head and anger does its best to push us into unnecessary confrontation or a stubborn desire to stick with an unworkable plan take a deep breath and remember that the moments will pass and renew themselves. Past and future do not exist in this moment, only now. Let it go.

Have a transformative week.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week; You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this. Henry David Thoreau
