1 Drink green tea.

Green tea contains a variety of health advantages, including antioxidants that can aid with weight loss and control.

Green tea is "one of the most potent liquids for weight loss," according to Goodson. "Green tea catechins are antioxidants that have been demonstrated to potentially boost fat burning and metabolic rate. Green tea also contains caffeine, which may aid increase workout performance by offering an energy boost. Consume matcha, a form of green tea that is high in catechins, for added benefits."

"Green tea contains caffeine, which can aid in the acceleration of your metabolism. You can consume up to three cups of green tea every day to get these benefits "D'Angelo explains.

2 Skip the fancy coffee drinks.

While there's nothing wrong with enjoying an iced mocha every now and then, buying one on a daily basis can lead to weight gain.

"It may seem clear that beverages like sodas are high in sugar, but many of the expensive coffee beverages that people eat on a regular basis are as well," adds Goodson. "Sugary coffee drinks frequently have a high calorie content, often exceeding 300 calories. So, before you down your next flavored coffee, make sure it's not sabotaging your efforts to lose belly fat."

3 Limit alcohol consumption-especially before bed.

In small doses, alcohol may not be a problem, and red wine, for example, may even give some health benefits if consumed in moderation. However, excessive alcohol use, especially before bedtime, may sabotage your weight loss efforts.

"Alcohol intake in general, especially in our 50s, will almost always have a bad impact on your stomach radius," adds D'Angelo. "Drinking alcohol before bed, on the other hand, is a harmful habit for a variety of reasons. Drinking too much before bed can harm your sleep patterns, and your body needs proper sleep in order to have energy the next day for things like exercise and dieting."

"Heavy drinking before night can also drive you to consume more unhealthy foods since it makes you hungry, and because alcohol slows your metabolism already, it's a sure-fire method to add additional fat to your abdominal area," D'Angelo adds. "Put the drink down at least an hour (ideally two) before night to avoid this. This could help you avoid binge drinking and make healthier choices."

4 Try sparkling water.

When it comes to losing or maintaining weight, being hydrated is essential. Plain water, on the other hand, can become monotonous after a while.

"Sparkling water might be a nice alternative if you don't like plain water but want a little flavor," Goodson explains. "By retaining food in your stomach for longer periods of time, sparkling water has been demonstrated to promote sensations of fullness to a larger extent than plain water. Not to mention, sparkling water quenches your thirst for anything bubbly without the added calories."
