COVID-19

It's okay to be scared

We're in the middle of a pandemic. The world is at a stand still and you don't want to leave your home in case you get infected. Right now, the world is a scary place, stepping out your front door is dangerous because an interaction with an infected person terrifies you. However, I think in order to get over the fear of COVID-19 you need to understand it more and do the research.

What is coronavirus?

Coronavirus is a group of viruses that are known to affect your lungs and airways (respiratory system). The coronavirus currently dominating the media is a new strain – known as COVID-19. As it’s new, there’s a lot we don’t yet know about the virus, such as how it’s passed on. Based on other respiratory infections, we think it's passed on through:

- coughs and sneezes

- using contaminated items, such as sharing drinking glasses.

The virus doesn't discriminate, anyone can get it. Staying at home is the answer, find your favorite show and watch it, that's all you have to do.

The media has to focus on the negative for most of the time during the pandemic, as if they keep mention the death total, people will start to realise the severity of the virus and might start to listen.

In other news, the Earth is healing due to the virus, the air is less polluted, the water is less polluted, the canals in Venice cleared up and even became home to dolphins for a few days. Whilst the chaos of COVID-19 is carrying on, the Earth, our home, is finally healing.

The NHS have the hardest battle to fight, and I think they deserve every applause they get, every piece of appreciation and recognition they fully earned. The UK would not survive the virus without them, they are the glue keeping this country together, which is why every Thursday we clap for them, houses and roads have been decorated with rainbows and thank you notes, because we appreciate the hours they're spending the treat the infected, they're putting their lives of the lines everyday to help us get better and beat the virus.

Lock-down is a boring time, days seem to repeat, yesterday is today and tomorrow. Forever forgetting what day it is, the hours seem to last a lifetime as you're trying to find something to keep yourself busy to make the day seem shorter and productive. Something to remember is that this could still just be the beginning of the Lock-down, so don't rush every job now, spend the time with your loved ones whilst you have this opportunity to, play games with them, cook with them, get creative in anyway possible, we've been given a great excuse to spend all day on the sofa watching TV and laugh with our Husband/Wife, parents, or children.

Exams have been cancelled, but us college and university students are still required to complete coursework if they are able to, exhibitions have been cancelled and all classes are now online only.

Finally, I hope everyone who isn't infected stays safe and healthy, and I wish everyone who has it a healthy and speedy recovery, we can all beat this, I know we can, and I send all condolences to anyone who lost family members or friends, it's never easy when someone dies, so I send all my love to those families. We, as humans are tough and can beat anything handed to us, so let's beat this together and prove to ourselves just how strong we are.

And Stay safe everyone and keep on smiling :)
