COUNTING CALORIES

Why Counting Calories is no longer the way to an improved physical body, health, and mental state of mind.

Three main reasons are as follows:

It makes you think about food ALL the time. That is not good for your mental health or well-being. Do you really want to be weighing, measuring, counting your food each time you eat? We can all answer that easily, the answer is No. Not only is it time consuming, embarrassing even but does not allow you the real freedom of choice. Reading every label at the supermarket, checking each portion size before you eat, and measuring out your food to exactly 1200 calories per day, in some ways gives order and understanding to what you are consuming but in no ways is this accountable to successful and continual maintenance of a healthy weight.

Secondly, counting calories causes you to approach food from a completely mental standpoint. You make up rules about what you can and cannot eat, what has the most benefit in the least number of calories, or can I have the burger and then nothing else for the rest of the day. This makes it rather difficult to maintain and you end up failing.

So, it is not beneficial to you to dictate how you eat solely based on your mind's rules, although it is your mind that tells you that you are hungry, a choice is available, and you need to make a wise decision.

Thirdly, it is predominantly unrealistic to continue for the future, think of a woman or man you know who is naturally thin. They do not constantly worry about food and their weight.

They do not count calories, ask them and they will tell you. Counting calories is just not sustainable in the long run. Living like this is NOT enjoyable, or practical and most importantly this will not bring about the change you need.

Counting calories is based on a deep-seated fear that you cannot "manage" your food intake on your own. You must constantly monitor it or else you will spiral out of control. Yes, mentally you will. Calories are not all equal . If you had 250 calories of Doritos and 250 calories of avocado, which do you think is better for your body? The avocado, of course, even though high in fat, but natural fats are good for you. Avocado is excellent for your body. It is loaded with healthy fats (enhances heart health), potassium (supports healthy blood pressure), fibre (good for digestion) has tons of other benefits. The Doritos have zero nutritional value. Simply put, calories DON’T count. Stop making it harder for yourself. Your body will recognize and treat them differently. Your body does not just digest calories...it digests the minerals, proteins, fats, and vitamins along with what you are eating.

If you ingest a 350-calorie frozen dinner vs a 600-calorie dinner of grilled chicken, sauteed carrots, and sweet potatoes, the second option is the better choice. Allowing your body to get the vitamins and minerals, proteins, and fats to digest well with you and your lifestyle, keeping you healthy.

The secret to portion control is in YOUR HANDS!

Firstly, close your hand and make a fist.

Note the size of that, and imagine that is the capacity of your stomach.

Open your hands, and of course, wash them - put a spoon of rice in the palm of your hand, put that on the plate. Then proceed with your protein, whether that be meat or chicken or fish. Again, add that to the plate. Open your hand, add your vegetables and place that on your plate. Voila, you have a healthy serving for your meal.

We will teach you how to lead a healthy life, lose weight and maintain it properly.
