Personal alarms are not a new idea. For a long time, basic personal alarms for the elderly have been available. They provide older people who live alone with the assurance that if they slip and fall or become sick, they will be able to summon help immediately.

Any families may be sceptical of the dependability of personal alarms due to the minimal functionality of the first and second generation alarms. Modern alarms are much more durable and accurate, making them an excellent alternative for those who respect their freedom but can need assistance from time to time.

Personal Alarms Will Work Outside the Home

Personal alarms would not function while you are outdoors in the backyard, according to a common myth. This is no longer real.

Modern personal alarms for the elderly have a range of 300 meters or more away from the base station, meaning they can continue to function while you are mowing the grass or relaxing in the backyard, allowing the customer more time to do what they enjoy.

Personal Alarms Are Comfortable to Wear

Personal alarms used to be very bulky and awkward, but that is no longer the case. Personal alarm clocks and pendants have shrunk in size in the same manner as phones have. Personal alarms can be as light as 7 grams. They can be worn like a watch on the wrist or as a pendant if the person chooses. A personal warning is only effective if the user wears it and has it on hand in case of an emergency.

Making the alarms smaller and more convenient to use is a major step in the right direction. The most recent alarms are also waterproof, enabling them to be worn in the bath or tub. Since slips when getting in and out of the bath are a frequent cause of injuries, this function is crucial.

Who Monitors the Alarms?

Many families doubt and are concerned about who will be tracking the warning. Any simple alerts, such as those included with an elderly phone, can simply dial pre-programmed numbers of friends and family members.

While this could be sufficient for certain elderly people, most alarms have even more advanced surveillance. Personal alarm providers have 24/7 supervision and assistance, but if the alarm is disabled, one of the trained treatment staff members can determine the situation and, if possible, communicate with the customer. If necessary, they can alert the user's emergency contacts or emergency providers.

When selecting a personal alarm, it is important to understand the service kit. It's likely that your elderly relative is familiar with a specific brand and would prefer to communicate with "the nice people from that business" rather than using a more impersonal alarm service. Small items like this can have a huge effect on a person's trust and peace of mind.

Personal Alarms Are a Lifeline for Many

Personal alarm technology is advanced and dependable today, and the right alarm service will genuinely be a lifeline for the wearer. Seniors that are able to preserve their dignity have a greater standard of life. Forget everything you thought you know about personal alarms when you saw your grandparents or great grandparents wearing them.

Newer devices are smaller, more discrete, and more reliable, and have a longer range too, making them an effective choice for keeping elderly people safe.
