With the coronavirus pandemic throwing our daily lives into chaos, it is incredibly important to invest in some self-care. But self-care isn't just taking a bubble bath with a glass of wine, it is the practice of ensuring that you take care of both your physical and mental health on a daily basis. Right now, there are plenty of daily stressors that can trigger negative emotions and self deprecating talk. Luckily, with some dedication, it can be very easy to develop a self-care routine to use every single day. Here are some easy ideas to implement that will help you invest in yourself.

1. Drink plenty of water

Being dehydrated can cause a ton of different issues, from swollen limbs and dry skin to headaches and fatigue. And you need to drink more water than you think you do, chances are you may not be drinking enough because if you're thirsty, it's too late! Thirst is a sign that your body is deprived of water, and a staggering 75% of all Americans are chronically dehydrated. So your goal is to keep your thirst at bay by constantly drinking water. Keep a glass by your bed and drink both before you go to sleep and after you wake up, and try drinking through a straw so that you'll consume more!

2. Change up your diet

A diet doesn't have to seem overwhelming. All you need to do is make a few lifestyle changes in order to see results. An example of this is by cutting out sweets from your diet and choosing weight loss smoothies as meal replacements. These smoothies are super easy additions to your diet—you don't even have to cook!—and are chock-full of healthy ingredients like berries, avocados, chia seeds, pineapple, ginger, kiwi, oats, and multiple different veggies. Just grab and go, and you won't have to worry about your next meal.

3. Invest in a weighted blanket

Weighted blankets are blankets with beads or marbles in them that, when used, apply slight pressure to your body. Their goal is to mimic a hug while calming you and making you sleep better. Simply draping the blanket over your torso or your shoulders will make you feel calm in just minutes, giving you the peace of mind that can help you doze off into a peaceful slumber.

4. Upgrade your wardrobe

It can be boring wearing the same clothes over and over day after day, so why not give yourself a little shopping spree? A wardrobe overhaul can easily help you feel excited about getting dressed in the morning. And who doesn't like shopping? Before you go, do some research on what silhouettes fit your body type so you have the best fit, which will only help your confidence soar. Not sure where to start? Look for jeans with perfect stretch, so you can feel smooth and sexy without much effort from you.

5. Head outside

Staying inside all day can make you feel down in the dumps, so go get some vitamin D in the sunshine. Just being around nature, breathing in the fresh air, and taking in the sights and smells of a natural landscape can boost your mood within seconds. Grab a pet or a loved one and head outside for a nice walk, and you will feel refreshed in no time. Make this a daily habit and you may even notice yourself shedding some pounds!

Add these ideas into your daily self-care routine, and you'll slowly but surely notice yourself feeling better, with boosts of energy and positive self-esteem. Just remember to have fun while you invest in yourself.
