We all know in the back of our minds, as we are nibbling on that treat portion of fries we got for lunch, that we should be eating healthier. But, we’re often unaware of what “eating healthy” even means, who or what can we trust, and how do we ever start? Well, the thing that most people struggle with is motivation and lacking concrete reasons to change their diet. So right here, right now—here are three reasons why you should start eating healthier today.

You can do the things you love with ease.

Everyone loves the view, but few people want to put in the effort of getting to the top. And this means literally. Plenty of people say they love hiking, spending time in nature, and conquering peaks, but not a lot of people actually do it. Excess weight, diet with poor nutritional benefits, and lack of hydration can all lead to you not being able to do the things you love, such as playing a sport you enjoy, going to do some exciting activities, or even playing outside with your kids. If you’re lacking energy, there’s no way you’re going out and running after them for an hour. If you feel like you are sometimes missing out on things because you don’t feel like you have the energy to do it, imagine how much better you’d feel if you would wake up every morning feeling like you can take over the world?

Set an example.

We all have little ones that look up to us. If you don’t have your own children, it’s a younger sibling, or a niece, or just a child passing by in the park observing you. We are the ones that set an example for the people around us, and the healthy options we choose can have an effect on them too. If you follow healthy meal plans and prepare the food for everyone in your family, then everyone will be eating healthier and the younger ones will see that the normal way is to prepare food out of fresh ingredients, and not order it from a fast food shop. By having the responsibility of setting an example, you are forcing yourself to stick to healthy eating and to teach the younger generation about healthy eating. Play with food together, make it fun and delicious, and enjoy your time together.

Stay healthy.

People who have unhealthy diets are not only more prone to diseases and health issues caused by bad nutrition, but they age faster and stop doing activities sooner. We all want to live long, healthy lives, and to do that, we have to treat our bodies with care and respect. The worst part is, if you are under 30, you’re probably not feeling the effects, but they’re there. Everything you’re putting your body through by eating junk is accumulating and at one point your body won’t take the abuse anymore, and you will have to retire from doing a lot of things you might love doing. So if you want to stay healthy, realize that eating healthy is the price you simply must pay. There is no magic pill or shake or wrap or fat blocker _just healthy, fresh produce and balanced meals. Of course, treats are allowed and you can eat a pizza or a burger every now and then, as long as the bulk of your diet is healthy food.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably already considering a healthier lifestyle, and hopefully, these reasons will give you the push you need. Remember that everything is easier with a support system, so don’t do it alone. The more people join you in eating healthy, the better you’ll do and better off everyone will be.
