When it comes to owning personal alarms, it is often the elderly or disabled who are provided with it especially when there is the need to provide them with the right independence along with constant monitoring because of the instability of health. While personal alarms are a boon for such people, loved ones get to stay stress-free especially when there is the need to leave them in the custody of someone else or probably letting them be alone.

Personal alarms are known to create an awareness whenever the owner is in trouble, but there are several who tend to believe in myths that surround this device and don't trust its functionality as much as it is required. While there is the need to clear the air off the myths, here are a few of them put forward to you.

Myth 1 - The Alarms Are Meant Only For the House

Personal signals come in different types where some prefer buying the ones that are useful only when the owner is present in the house premise and the base unit is located indoors. While there are the rest that have GPS systems enabled in them which makes them travel outdoors while being under the scanner all the time. Being able to monitor their whereabouts through the server can make things mobile for the owner of the personal alarms for the elderly. This way, depending on the need of the person using the alarm, you can make necessary purchases.

Myth 2- Personal Alarms Restrict the Independence

When a person is ill, elderly or disabled, there is always the need to monitor them which often makes them feel caged up. By using medical alarms for seniors, you get to enjoy the freedom of moving around and doing all that you feel like. Only when you have trouble and face a bad situation, it is then when you can create awareness, and the necessary help comes to you in no time. There is no restriction on freedom, and you can do whatever you intend to while being monitored from a distance.

Myth 3 - Accidental Pressing of the Button Can Waste Time

Making mistakes is something natural, and when that comes from someone who is in need of personal alarms for the elderly, it is often something that should be of concern. When you press the alarm accidentally, you would, by all means, be contacted by the operator or probably your family member who is responsible for rescuing you. You could either inform them about the mistake or let them come over. This way, you do not get penalised and sums up as a maintenance check which allows you to know whether the alarm is functional or not.

When it comes to purchasing an alarm, it should always be the result of the needs the owner has as that makes them comfortable yet feel the independence of being monitored from a distance. Alarms are often worn around the neck or the wrist and are something easy to handle. Instructing the owner about its use can give you peace of mind especially when they aren't around.
