3/17/20- 72 Degrees of Tarot: March Tarot Challenge

If I listen to my intuition, what could I change?

It's Tuesday, the 17th of March and I'm sure you've all noticed how uncomfortable the uncertainty that's creeping in. Many establishments are closing down (including schools, restaurants, colleges and other businesses). And it's all in an effort to minimize contact and help facilitate some "social distancing" to help get a handle on the spread of COVID-19.

In this time of dealing with things that are beyond our control, it's good to be able to bask in some "creature comforts" in the warmth of your home that you might otherwise might not have the time for. Make some hot chocolate or tea, find a good book and cozy up on the couch and just relax. This is a not a time to panic, but just to take precautions and get some well-needed self care.

Today, we're asking "If I listen to my intuition, what could I change?" And the card I pulled is very appropriate.

The card :

The Hermit (RWS Tarot)

Social distancing, indeed! But I think this card is speaking to just more than that. I've always been a bit of an introvert and I can also shut down when things get tough. Which, to be honest, isn't a good thing.

When things get too chaotic around us, we have a tendency to clam up. We'd rather not take things on when there is no clear course ahead of us, so we hide away for awhile. Some may even wall themselves off almost completely, too afraid of whatever it was that drove them to hide, until it magnifies and they become afraid of the fear that caused them to hide in the first place.

The problem is, if we want to be able to use our intuition, we need to be vulnerable and open up. It was one of the things we learned yesterday, looking at the High Priestess card. I know there are certainly times when we need to protect ourselves from toxic situations or people and remove ourselves from those influences. But we can't be a completely closed circuit. That's not how intuition works.

It will only function in a person who is in touch with their feelings, among other things. The Hermit is looking to the left and it always impressed me that there was some lament or regret about his past. Something heavy on his heart. The bowed head, the heavy looking robe, the hood covering his face, along with his beard.

Vulnerability means not hiding. It means remaining open and it means surrender and that can be very scary. But not doing so, especially in situations that you can't control, isn't doing you any favors. Trying to delude yourself that you're in control of the situation and yes, avoiding the situation is a roundabout way of controlling it, will just deplete your resources and drive you into exhaustion and perhaps, depression.

Surrendering will not only take an enormous mantle off our shoulders, decrease our anxiety and help with our happiness, but when we surrender and make ourselves more vulnerable, we will be more in tune with our intuition and more receptive to its voice.

Our intuition is tied into our emotions and by deadening them or closing them off, we choke our intuition. There's no two ways about it, being intuitive means being open. Doing this is not only good for our intuition, it's just good for us as people. Especially, if you want to use your intuition to help others. By being open and vulnerable, we will draw those to us who need guidance and help. We will sense what we can do and also, in some situations, what we can't do.

But the more your practice this and listening to your intuition, it will start to be easier and then become something you will just be able to flow in. That's when the real magic happens!
