Perfectionism or even finding perfectionism is not the right step towards knowledge. Below are listed the most efficient ways to find inner peace in the race of explaining everything to everyone.

Stillness is an essential part of our lives, but constantly trying to please everyone is not the right solution. Instead, it's better to stop running after perfectionism and pleasing everyone because every individual has their own viewpoint, different perceptions and different mindsets.

Finding stillness in midst of these vague thoughts and expectations should be the primary goal of an individual

Let’s take a Deep dive and explain the golden rules that need not be understood-

1. Less stress

Being in stillness reduces responses in the parasympathetic system, which is responsible for fight or flight and increases responses in the sympathetic system, responsible for rest and relaxation. In other words, it calms your mind allowing you to feel more at peace and less stressed out.

2. Ability to let things go more easily

The key to being at peace is to not engage with any thoughts that come into your mind. This practice of letting go of thoughts carries over into your life in general. You learn the value of letting go of the things that aren’t working so you can create space for what will work.

3. Ability to hear your own intuition

There is a cacophony of voices out there trying to tell you how you should be, what you should do, how you should look, and a myriad of other shoulds. When you practice stillness, you learn to silence those voices and can more easily tap into your intuition to know what is true for you.

4. Anchor yourself into the present

Much of the anxiety and stress felt in life is related to future events. Things that need to get done, plans that have to be finalized, outcomes that could go terribly wrong. All of your thoughts are focused on the future. Stillness anchors you into the present moment so you can deal with what is rather than what might be.

5. Increases listening skills

As you learn to listen to be more present, a natural by-product is you get better at listening to others. You stop waiting to talk and instead learn to actually hear what others are saying and you respond more effectively and empathetically. This leads to richer more rewarding relationships.

6. Brings clarity

While stillness is not intended for problem-solving, you can often find clarity around a situation that has been troubling you. Stepping back from it can give you a perspective that you won’t see when in the middle of it. Stillness offers you a way to step back.

7. Improve your sleep

The generally relaxed state achieved as a result of practising stillness can help you fall asleep more easily and experience a more restful night’s sleep. Practising stillness can also help you fall back asleep more easily if you wake up in the middle of the night.

8. Improves your overall health

In addition to improving your sleep, being in stillness lowers blood pressure, improves your immune system, and increases serotonin levels. All of which has a positive impact on your health.

9. Creativity increases

Being in stillness pulls you out of your left brain and allows your right brain to be more activated. Your right brain is the creative centre of the brain. Increased activity in this area of the brain offers a change in perspective and can often lead to unexpected outcomes.

10. Improves ability to handle adversity

Adversity is going to come in one form or another. The peace that comes from practising stillness will support you as you deal with life’s difficulties. You may not be able to change your situation but the practice of stillness can help you respond to them differently.

11. Increased self-awareness

Probably one of the unintentional great benefits of practising stillness is you become more aware of how you are in the world. You notice yourself better as you interact with those around you and you notice how you are adding or taking away from the relationship. You start taking ownership of your role in the things happening in your life rather than staying in a victim or victim-like mindset.

12. Connects you to a higher power

Practising stillness makes you aware that there is a higher power at work in the world. Your story is part of a much larger story that is unfolding. You are a co-creator with a force that while bigger and more powerful than you still conspires on your behalf. Awareness of this keeps you grounded.

Stillness - Ultimate Goal

Stillness can’t just happen accidentally. It has to be practised—or at least, not actively prevented. But that's what most of us do. We say yes to too many things. We avoid silence and solitude. We take drugs or alcohol as an escape from ourselves. We are always doing, doing, doing and thinking and thinking, and then are surprised that we have no stillness. The ultimate goal is to not need time outs in the day but to be able to let go of frustrations as and when they occur. This is something that stillness can help you with, training your mind to react to the stresses and annoyance of daily life. Part of being still is choosing not to engage with every thought that presents itself and this can ultimately transfer over to your everyday life. By letting go of your thoughts during stillness, in life, you will become apt at letting go of whatever is holding you back or upsetting you. Learning to let go is a powerful thing, you can simply choose not to let certain things get you down and the negative emotions will disappear as quickly as they arrived.

By taking regular moments to be still and enjoy the silence, you ultimately are drawn into yourself, your own mind, allowing you to focus on your thoughts and how you feel. Many of us struggle to think clearly due to the hectic nature of the modern world, as we are bombarded with stimuli from every which direction, with everyone we come across telling us what to think and how to feel. As a result, it’s hardly a surprise that our thoughts become crowded and our mental state confused. But stillness can bring clarity, diminish confusion, by allowing those insights that are buried deep in your mind to surface.
