When is the best time to post on Instagram?

Ever wondered when the best time to post on Instagram is? When that giant collective cloud of people will see your post the best is?

Well, Later did their algorithmicy stuff with 12 million Instagram posts and found that the best time to post on Instagram is between 9 AM-11 AM EST.

But of course, this doesn't necessarily mean this will be right for your business, but for the general traffic of Instagram, this appears to be when people are checking their feeds the most.

When you post is now just as important as WHAT you post, and what hashtags you use.

Here is a breakdown if you don't want to scroll up and look at the image:

Best Time to Post on Instagram

Monday: 6 AM, 10 AM, and 10 PM EST

Tuesday: 2 AM, 4 AM, and 9 AM EST

Wednesday: 7 AM, 8 AM and 11 PM EST

Thursday: 9 AM, 12 PM, and 7 PM EST

Friday: 5 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM EST

Saturday: 11 AM, 7 PM, and 8 PM EST

Sunday: 7 AM, 8 AM, and 4 PM EST

It really is kinda all over the place. But it really does help you out as you can schedule your IG posts for those specific hours of the day, and why not get the most traffic for your posts right? Especially if you are running a business and need clients for a store, followers for Spotify or Soundcloud, or visitors for your art or other creative venues.

What Hashtags to Use

Now what else is important? Oh right, what hashtags you use. I cannot stress enough how important hashtags are if you are just starting out. The feed that people look through of new posts goes by very quickly, so it's very much like dipping a bucket into a fast moving stream. If you don't move fast enough, your posts will be long forgotten and buried under an avalanche of new posts, so you really have to make sure you hit as many hashtags as you can so your posts show up in as many places as possible.

My suggestion is to find some sites that will show you trending hashtags for the topic you want. One such site is https://best-hashtags.com.

So for example, if you wanted hashtags for music, you would type in music and be met with this: https://best-hashtags.com/hashtag/music/

As you can see it brings up a nice handy list. It's fine and all to post whatever hashtag appears in your mind, but if those hashtags are not trending or popular, it really limits who actually sees it. Put in no hashtags and you are really only relying on who already follows you to see your work, so it is very important to really cater your hashtags to who will see your work.

What images to upload

Next you will want to think about what images to upload. Will you add filters? How will you make it stand out? Will the colours be more earthy or bold and colourful? Look through feeds on Instagram to see what stands out in your mind, or what doesn't. Everyone is an amateur artist or photographer on IG these days and the filters can make almost any image look professional—with phones that take almost flawless pictures of almost anything.

Also consider what might be trendy for your own unique style and try to stick with that style. What types of things do you routinely post? Don't stray too far from that because you will get followers who want to see specific things from you.

Advertising

Also it doesn't hurt to advertise in your Instagram either. You can post a link in the text of the post itself or even add it to the images you post if you run a business, like I do below.

And last but not least, if you're going to make an article talking about promotion on Instagram, don't forget to promote YOURSELF! ;)

My Instagram focuses on my hair, my body, my art, and my music, and any promotional contests I may be involved in :)

And that's that! Hope this has helped you out!
