Whether it's a minor connection or hardware problem, resetting the printer can help you resolve your HP printer registration error problem.

  • To do this, turn off your HP printer
  • Then remove the power cord from the computer.
  • Also remove the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • wait a minute or two
  • Now reconnect the power cord directly to the wall outlet

  • Now, check the status of your printer with HP smart
  • Wait for the printer to complete the reset process
  • After that open HP smart on your device

Now check the status of your printer

  • If you see the print ready option shown with a green check mark, then your printer is ready to print
  • If it asks you to complete the printer setup, go ahead and complete the setup process
  • On the other hand, if you see the error, then you should continue with the troubleshooting process.

You can reset the printer to factory settings by signing in to your account on the HP Smart website. Follow the steps below for the login process.

  • From your computer or mobile device, navigate to hpsmart.com.
  • Analyze the information displayed on the dashboard screen

Steps to reset your HP printer to its factory default settings

Before starting the reset, the printer’s settings will be completely erased, which cannot be reversed at any cost. We will understand the reset process based on printer with and without touch screen panel.

  • For touch screen printers, click the settings icon
  • Then on the next screen choose the Printer Maintenance option
  • On the next screen select Restore and choose Restore Factory Defaults option
  • If you see a confirmation message on the control panel, click the continue option
  • Wait for the printer to complete the reset process and continue with the next process
  • For printers without a touch screen panel, you must access the printer settings from the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
  • Open your HP Smart app and go to the printer settings
  • On the next screen, select the Advanced Settings option and choose the Tools option
  • This will open the EWS page
  • If this does not open the EWS, you can print a network configuration page or printer information
  • Press the information button on your printer’s control panel to print the network configuration page
  • Make a note of the IP address and enter it into the browser of your choice
  • This will open the EWS page for your printer
  • From the EWS page, go to the settings tab and choose the Restore Defaults or Services option
  • On the next page, choose Restore Factory Defaults and tap on the Restore Factory Defaults button

Wait for the printer to complete the rest of the process and continue with the troubleshooting process.

Follow the guidelines to set up the printer online

Initially, download and install the HP Smart app from the HP official site

  • Then open the app to choose, skip for now if the app home screen asks to add printer
  • To access HP Smart features, you can press the login button
  • Just follow the onscreen guidelines to find the verification code if any prompts ask for it.
  • Then you can click set up a new printer option if you need to connect with new or existing system

Now if you have a printer without the touch screen control panel, you can click the information button. In the case of the touch screen control panel, you can click the check mark button. If you are still having trouble with the printer setup process, you can restart your HP Smart App. Once restarted, you can put the printer back in the app. And continue to finish the printer setup process. This will efficiently help you to fix the two issues we have discussed on the blog called HP printer configuration incomplete error and HP printer registration error.
