You are beautiful and so is your smile. There is no denying the fact that a smile can win hearts and make you feel less stressed and confident. However, in our pressing day-to-day lives, we forget to add more smiles to our day to make it brighter. A smiling face is naturally more captivating and conveys your excitement and level of motivation. Smiling is a great way of connecting with others and is a reflection of your kindness towards others. It also has a positive impact on how you feel about yourself. But if you want to ake a more conscious effort to do it, here are some tips on how to smile more.

HealthShots got in touch with Dr Kamna Chhibber, Clinical Psychologist and Head of Department of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences, at Fortis Healthcare, to understand some tips to let you smile more. After all, there are legit benefits of smiling.

Having a constant smile on your face isn’t a hard thing to achieve. But our worrying lives have made us forget to smile often. Try some of these tips in your everyday life and smile more naturally.

1. Always focus on the good

The expert says, “Focus on the good in situations and your life.” Happiness is never a situation, but it is always a choice that we have to make every single moment. Either focus on the good or the bad happening in our life. If we choose to focus only on our blessings and practice gratitude for them, we will tend to have a happier smile and life.

2. Do things that make you happy

You have just one life to live. Go out, act, make those dreams come true and live a life where you are constantly progressing to become the best version of yourself. Add more joy and meaning into your lives. With time, you will learn to stay happier and smile more. “Take a break from routines to immerse yourself in things you love,” suggests Dr Chhibber.

3. Say to comparison

Comparing your life to others just strips you of that much-needed joy and happiness. Stop checking out what others are doing and instead start focusing on learning ways to improve the quality of your life. The more you improve, the more you will turn joyful.

4. Build moments of goodness

“Be kind and compassionate towards yourself and others. Try to take out time for your loved ones,” says Dr Chhibber. Build moments of goodness that give you the inner strength to stay peaceful even amidst chaos. Stick to healthy lifestyle habits, eat good food, sleep well, and do anything that improves the quality of your life. Start taking good care of yourself to invite more peace into your life. Remember, self-care is not selfish.

5. Spend time with nature

It is rightly believed that nature is the best healer. The more we spend time in nature, the more we heal and grow in life toward becoming the best version of ourselves. Go out, soak in the glowing sunlight, and bask in the greenery to help you smile more through peace.

Follow these tips to smile more often, and the difference it brings to your life will be there for you and others around you to experience!

Remember this as well as the smile

Diet alone is not the only factor associated with high life expectancies. Research has shown that people who reside in communities where long life is common, usually have strong connections to friends and family, a sense of purpose and a positive outlook on life. They engage in high levels of physical activity and spend a lot of time outside gardening, farming or socializing with other people in their communities, says Dan Buettner, the author of the new book "The Blue Zones American Kitchen."
