Why Entrepreneurs Should Post Content Regularly -

It's NOT To "Build An Audience"

By Cody Dakota Wooten, C.B.C.Published about a year ago 3 min read

It has become common advice for entrepreneurs to post content regularly.

However, most do it for the wrong reasons.

Many entrepreneurs think that the goal of posting regularly is to "Build an audience".

However, this tends to be EXTREMELY overrated.

For most entrepreneurs, building an audience is both a waste of time and it will leave them feeling drained with no results.

In fact, most entrepreneurs quickly burn out, broke, and without any hope as they return to dead-end jobs because they focused on building an audience that never came.

However, posting content regularly DOES have benefits IF you do it for the right reasons!

It doesn't even have to be multiple times a day if you understand what content really does for you as an entrepreneur.

You can post content in a way that isn't overwhelming, that doesn't break you mentally and emotionally, and in a way that actually benefits you.

But it ONLY happens if you do it for the right reasons.

These are the REAL reasons you should post content regularly.

➼ Confidence

Many entrepreneurs struggle to make content regularly.

It leaves them feeling like they may not be cut out to make it as an entrepreneur.

However, this is EXACTLY why you need to post regularly!

As you create more content, you gain confidence in everything that you do!

This can then spread into every aspect of your business!

➼Social Proof

Imagine this scenario...

You have a great conversation with a prospective client.

Then they ask you something you hoped they wouldn't...

They want to see some of your work.

However... you have nothing to show them!

This situation becomes easy to overcome when you post content regularly!

By posting content, you always have social proof available that you can show prospective clients.

The key to this is making sure that this content can ALWAYS be accessed.

Posting regular "Stories" that disappear in 24 hours won't help you create social proof in the long-term.

The long-term is the key to content that helps you get to your goals.

➼ Identity

Many entrepreneurs "think" they know who they are.

However, few entrepreneurs really KNOW who they are.

When you don't post content regularly, it is difficult to really know WHO you are.

There are many identities that float through your head, but nothing becomes concrete.

You only start to really discover who you actually are as an entrepreneur when you post about your work regularly.

You learn more about how you think, how you feel, what comes easy to you, and what is challenging as you post.

➼ Ideation

Most entrepreneurs keep their ideas inside their heads.

However, whenever ideas stay inside the head, they never REALLY get fleshed out.

When you try to explain what has only been in your head, it comes out clumsy, half-baked, and makes you sound like you don't know what you're talking about.

I speak from personal experience.

But, as you create more content this changes.

You begin to see the flaws in the ideas.

You begin to gain new insights based that you couldn't have foreseen prior to ideas getting outside your head.

Your ideas grow and become real.

The Secret Result

This is the funny thing about content.

If your goal is to build an audience, you will never actually gain an audience.

However, if your goal is to gain confidence, build social proof, understand your identity, and build your ideas, something happens.

More people become intrigued by who you are!

They see your confidence and want that in their lives.

They see the social proof and become interested in what you have to say next.

They see ideas that have been built and tested, and they begin to trust those ideas.

They see a confident entrepreneur, one that is worth listening to.

The other thing that is interesting, is that LONG before you have a large audience, you can actually build an EXTREMELY successful business!

Your audience doesn't determine your success, but your success will attract an audience.
