The most beautiful village you can dream of...
Villages of the North.
I woke up to a gorgeous assemblage of milky white clouds, reminiscent of the ones in those enticing anime films and series, on a morning with pink skies.
The wood-framed windows of our ornamental cottage at Reine had silky chiffon curtains. I slid out of the warm, cozy duvet and took a relaxing trip there. My skin sparkled in the sun's golden radiance as the glorious sun rays of the new day played on it.
The not-so-known but tremendously beautiful village of Norway, Reine, had so much in stock for us.
Reine is situated 9 kilometers east of Moskenes, the ferry's arrival port from Bod, and 125 miles west of the Svolvaer Airport. The community is located along the picturesque E10 that winds through the Lofoten Islands.
On the island of Moskenesya in the Lofoten archipelago of northern Norway, this village is breathtaking. The settlement has gained a reputation as "the most beautiful place in the world" due to the red and white fishermen's huts that line the shore and the granite peaks that surround it.
Starting with a nice English breakfast, I went out to explore. After a while, found out that Reinebringen is a fantastic choice if you could only do one walk in the Lofoten Islands. An incredible view of Reinefjorden and the Lofoten Wall may be seen from one of the largest overlooks on the Islands after a steep climb. Just past the tunnel, to the west of the town, is where you'll find the trail. Although Reinebringen is just 450 meters high, the walk there is difficult and treacherous, so allow plenty of time to take in the views at the summit.
As the day went on, I visited the two magnificent beaches found across the Reinefjorden, both needing a morning ferry from Reine followed by a walk. The beaches at Horseid and Brune were the ones that made me feel fortunate to have been born a human. It takes around two hours to walk each way to Horseid Beach, a spectacular stretch of white sand flanked by towering rocks.
Finally, the adventurous side of me was out. Reine is one of the best kayaking destinations on the Lofoten Islands. For the timid ones , you can even try the Reinefjorden's inland waters for calmer circumstances; the scenery is stunning. The thrilling paddle from Reine should be considered by experienced kayakers seeking a full day on the water. Reine Adventure, which is situated in town next to the Reine Rorbuer, offers easy kayak guiding and rental services. Kayaking was the first time for me and guess what, I would never miss any opportunity of doing it another time.
The night at Reine couldn't have been dreamier. Each year, avid outdoor enthusiasts and photographers go to the north in hopes of catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). Reine is the most picturesque place in the world, and it is well situated for such viewing due to the fact that it is 100 kilometers above the Arctic Circle.
It was my last day at Reine. With a heavy heart but some wholesome experiences, I went to the end of the E10 (the road that crosses the Lofoten Islands) and the picturesque settlement, located less than 10 kilometers west of Reine. It was a pleasant trip, at the very least, and there were lots of bright red fishermen's cabins in the village itself. Located at, the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, it provides a historical perspective on village life and the Lofoten fisheries. There is free camping on the point and a designated campground for campers nearby (I discovered firsthand that the circumstances can get very windy).
If you are an avid tourist, Reine is your ideal dream location before a great deal of people become aware of the mystical beauty it possesses.
