The Post Grunge Bands We Actually Grew Up With
There is a polite version of the late 90s and early 2000s rock story. In that version the serious people finished with Nirvana and Soundgarden, smirked at everything that came after, and moved on to whatever indie record made them feel selective. That story leaves out the music that actually lived in the truck, the shop radio, the night shift, and the first apartment with a cheap stereo. Staind and Puddle of Mudd belong to that second story. So do a handful of their neighbors. Call it post grunge if you need a filing cabinet. Just do not pretend the filing cabinet was empty.

Metallica Black Album
If you grew up with a tape deck in the dash and a boom box that could rattle the windows, you already know what happened in August 1991. Metallica did not just drop an album. They changed the address of heavy music. They took a sound that lived in clubs, tape trading circles, and late night college radio and parked it in the driveway of every kid who had never set foot in a pit. That record is Metallica , the self titled one everyone still calls the Black Album. Thirty five years later it is still the record Gen X reaches for when they want to prove a point about what metal can be when it is written like a hit and mixed like a weapon.

NOT A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO MANIFESTING
NOT A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO MANIFESTING A Quiet Word With the Universe From Yourself I am not going to teach you how to manifest. There are enough people doing that already, usually while sitting in a perfect white room with a candle burning, three crystals lined up like obedient little soldiers and not a speck of dust anywhere. My house does not work like that, and neither does my mind. My thoughts arrive together, all talking at once, while the kettle is boiling and something I put down two minutes ago has mysteriously disappeared. This is not another guide promising that the universe will deliver everything you desire before teatime. This is simply a quiet word with the universe from myself.

When the Mountains Lost Two of Their Voices
There are losses that belong to a family, losses that belong to a town, and then there are losses that seem to reach across an entire world. This week has brought me two of those losses. First came Dolly Parton, whose death on August 25 broke my heart in a way I had trouble putting into words. Then, yesterday, came the news that Wendell Berry had died at his home in Kentucky at the age of ninety-two. I sat with that news this morning and felt something I had already been carrying grow heavier. The Appalachian Mountains had lost two voices that had spoken to generations of us, and for me, those voices had been part of my life since childhood.

Who is Marie381Uk
Who Is Marie381UK? The Story of George’s Girl The woman behind more than 4,000 poems I feel a bit daft writing something about myself. Blowing my own trumpet has never come naturally to me, and part of me wondered whether people might think, “Who does she think she is?”
