Masculinity In Advertising Today
The topics of gender stereotypes and identity have been at the forefront of recent cultural discussion. Businesses have been interjecting themselves in this extensive conversation through “gendered” advertising campaigns and marketing tactics.
Who Am I?
At a young age, I felt like an accessory. My best friend played competitive travel soccer, while I cheered on from the sidelines. My cousin performed on elite dance teams, while I applauded from the audience. The list went on and on but I was not on it. I felt incompetent—a hollow, empty mirror, reflecting on the achievements of others without any substance of my own. My dad always told me, “Jaime, you never know when lightening will strike; you have so much to offer.” Then, one day, it happened, and that image shattered forever!
So Many Changes Coming Soon
“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.” I have been blogging since my early years... A whole lotta dots after that statement, because some (*cough* a lot of it) was brutal. Not saying by any means that I have perfected blogging or anything of that sort, but I have learned to use it for myself, and not build my foundation on the opinions of others. If something makes you feel better, do it. If you can turn that into passion, go for it! With that said, I have tried out many different sites through the years (*cough* not a paid promotion), but a year ago I joined Vocal, and when I started blogging with this platform, I never expected the growth I have now. I cant believe I reached 15,402 reads as of today, that’s over 1,000 views a month, and I am beyond thankful for everyone who takes the time to support me in my blogging journey, and that is why I am bringing more to the table this year for everyone. Some may say “15,402 reads? That’s not a lot,” but to me it means a lot that over 1000 of you each month support me—and for that I LOVE YOU.
The Agape Cause: Saving the Turtles and the World
The Agape Cause was started by Erica Meyler, of New Jersey, when her passion for the environment accidentally fueled a business idea. Erica speaks on starting The Agape Cause: "I actually came up with the idea by accident. I posted a story on Instagram as a joke when I bought some metal straws, poking fun at beauty gurus when they post swatches of their new products. I was really surprised that everyone took it seriously, but looking back it was because I was always trying to spread awareness about causes I cared about, especially centered around conservation and environmentalism. It was perfect how it fell into my lap, because I was always extremely frustrated with how I felt like these issues were out of my hands and I didn’t know how to help, but this was a great way. I think most people feel that way, so my main goal is to give people the tools they need to start getting involved and feel like their efforts matter. Thats why a percentage of the proceeds from each product will be donated to the cause it was inspired by!"
Arthur's Hardware: The Quintessential Hardware Store
As a handy-man kind of guy and a husband with two young kids, I am always looking for new stores to find items that will help me around the house. My tastes are all over the map when it comes to manufacturer, cost, or even atmosphere. I like high end, and I like the local hardware shop. I like brand names, and I like start-ups. However, the one core thing they all need to have in common is great product and great service. I am sure that you are just like me.
Ever since I was little I was always interested in blogging. I have joined many sites, and have tried many different platforms through the years.
Get Paid to Review Music and Fashion
Today I would like to do a website review on a website that I am so new to but very excited to be a part of and to share with you all.
My Year on Vocal.Media
I can't believe that I started writing on Vocal.Media a full year ago. Throughout the year I've written 148 articles. They're mostly reviews for movies and small personal opinion pieces. Averaging it out that's almost an article every two and a half days. I didn't even think I would be able to produce articles that fast.
How to Fix Indeed
I use Indeed a lot. As a freelancer, it's not always easy making money on your own. I'm a writer and a blogger; though, with ad revenue, I'm only earning pennies, or what I would call "drop-in-the-bucket revenue," because that's exactly what it is—drop-in-the-bucket pay.
Inbox Dollars is one of many “get paid to do” websites out there. The website and app pay you to confirm their paid emails, watch videos, use their search engine, complete shopping offers, and the most lucrative option of all: take surveys. I’ve been using it for the past month or so, to answer some questions I had about it, and of course, to see if I could get some cash out of the deal.
