It's been two years of blogging on Medium and Vocal Media. I have learned enough about the platforms (Medium and Vocal Media) that I am eligible to share my thoughts about them. For new writers, it's still a puzzle about which site is the best for writing. As you already know that these two sites pay you for writing on it. Medium and Vocal Media is blogging sites that have their own cons and prose. Plus, both are considered each other alternatives.

To be successful on any platform it's important to understand it. It's important to learn how the platform works. So let's begin to learn how both sites work(Medium and Vocal Media).

Vocal Media And Medium

Introduction:

Vocal Media

Vocal Media is one of the most popular writing or blogging site among the writer's community over the globe. On Vocal Media, you can write everything. It's not restricted to a genre or category. However Vocal Media does not accept religious content.

Medium is the best writing site and is loved by a huge writer's community. On Medium you can write about whatever you want. It allows you to write everything including religious content. However, hate speech is not allowed. The Medium can take an action against it if you write something misleading or hateful. Even it's not allowed on Vocal Media.

Side by Side Comparison of Vocal Media and Medium

  • On Vocal Media, It takes time to review the story and publish it. Sometimes they reject a story if it doesn't meet their eligibility criteria. You might experience little frustration due to rejection and editing to submit the story again. Note: it's not frustrated always. They do not let you wait for a long time but in some cases, you have to bear waiting for approval. On Medium, you can publish your story immediately. You are not gonna wait for review nor do you have to go through the fear of rejection.
  • Vocal Media don't allow to write you about the religious topic. They do not appreciate and publish it. While on Medium you can write about anything even religion.
  • Getting views on Vocal Media is a bit harder. Their by default SEO is not too good. While the only way to earn money on Vocal Media is by getting views. It's also a good feature but the bad thing is you can not rank your article on Google very fast. Because Vocal Media by default SEO is not good. On Medium, it's easy to rank your article on Google with SEO. The Medium itself has a good SEO system. But you will get nothing by getting views from Google on the Medium, . On Medium, you only get paid by Medium membership members' reading time. However, if Medium chooses your article for curation, you can earn much more income than Vocal Media. Medium pays a very high amount to curated content but not all can adore it. Only it's an ideal platform for those who know the curation game and who can engage people with their content. While on Vocal Media, there is no strict rule for paying. The Vocal Media does not limit you to getting reads only by the vocal member to get money. You can earn money through organic traffic. 20k Google traffic on the medium will pay you nothing, while 20k Google views on a vocal can make you able to generate $120.

Quora: What is Quora? | Different Ways to Earn Money on Quora | How to Join Quora Partner Program

  • On Vocal Media, you have a withdrawal limit of $35 or $20. As a Vocal plus member you can withdraw your money when $20 limit reach, or $35 as a simple Vocal user, on the other hand. You can get it on any date of the month when it's reached. On Vocal Media, you can withdraw payment on your own. You can even withdraw twice or thrice in a month after the withdrawal limit is reached. While on Medium there is no withdrawal limit but you can not withdraw your money on your own. Medium only sends payment once a month. It send payment in the 1 to 8 days of the new month. They don't have to withdraw limit so you can get paid even if you earn $1. But you cannot withdraw on your own.
  • You can join Vocal Media just by signing up from your Gmail. You are immediately in and are eligible to make money. For Medium, you have to get 100 followers, at least one post and stripe-supported country to join the Medium Partner Program. While you can join Vocal Media even from a country where the strip is not supported. After signing up you are in and you can create your stripe account in any way. Creating a stripe account is not that difficult. While on Medium, you cannot join. Because when you apply for Medium Partner Program, Medium checks your IP and rejects the application when it detects an IP from stipe unsupported country.
  • The thing that I like about Vocal Media is bonuses. Vocal Media encourage its contributor by rewarding them with bonuses. They give different amounts of bonuses when you do something good. You get $5 bonuses for publishing $5 stories, $10 for $ 10 stores, and $50 for publishing $50 stories. Moreover, if your article performs extraordinarily or if they think your article is the best to be featured on the site, they also give a bonus for it. You can also win a bonus if you get 5 or 10 likes on your story.

  • While Medium surprised creators in 2020 or may be 2019 by giving them a big amount of bonuses 500$ or so on. Medium picks some top writers and rewards them with bonuses. Before it was not in their policy. In 2020, writers were surprised by bonuses. But Medium continues it for short time. Then they remove bonuses from their policy. However, Medium bonuses were of higher amount but it doesn't exist anymore. Plus, nobody was familiar with who will get a bonus. While Vocal Media bonuses are permanent and they still give bonuses to everyone based on their term. However, it's a small bonus but you get a surety to win that.
  • The bestest and my personal most favorite feature of Vocal media is ' "challenges''. Vocal Media keep uploading weekly, and monthly challenges and give the creative and talented writer a chance to participate and win $1000, $2000, $3000 and more bonuses by participating and winning the challenges. In this way, Vocal Media encourage talent, engage the communities and keep creativity alive. While on Medium, I think there is no space for creativity. No challenges - and no rewards. If you are an extraordinary writer and know how to get into the curation game - you can earn. Otherwise, you have to work hard to get member reads to earn some pennies. Or money making article is a good game on Medium (maybe).
  • On Vocal Media, you can edit a story only if you are a Vocal plus member. Otherwise, once you submit and your story is published, you can't make changes. To delete your story you have to contact the vocal media team to delete your story. While on Medium you get the benefit that you can edit your story whenever you want. It's totally in your hand, you can publish immediately, you can edit it, you can delete it, whatever you want.

Conclusion

My personal choice is Vocal Media, nowadays. Because here you face only one difficulty which is getting views and ranking on Google. On the other hand, on Medium even if your article ranks on Google, you will still get paid for the member reading time, not from external views. While if you pay attention to SEO and learn some basic strategies and learn SEO skill, you can rank your articles on Google. The amazing thing about Vocal Media is it pays per view without any discrimination whether the views come from Vocal plus members or free members, or internal sources or external sources. You just have to get views on your content. On Medium you are bound to get reads from medium members to get paid.

Both platforms are the best and top choice for writers. But both have their own cons and prose. There are certain things that I love about Medium and there are certain things, I don't like about the Medium. Similarly, there are certain things that I enjoyed the most about Vocal Media and there are certain things that I don't like about it. Cons and Prose are attached to everything, whether it's a writing platform, freelance sites, a job, or whatever. To work and succeed on a particular site you have to accept both (cons and prose) and keep learning and understanding the platforms.
