YouTube is a powerhouse and if you connect the dots and get it right, you can make thousands per month and build a solid online brand for yourself. I am not going to lie to you and say it’s a walk in the park because it’s not. It takes hard work, lots of trial and error and some seriously thick skin to make it on YouTube. However, if you have what it takes, you can make a killing and build a legitimate business as a video content creator.

There is one catch though with YouTube, you need to get 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time YouTube will even consider monetizing your content. It’s a major bummer for those who just want to start earning money however, the good news is, when you work hard and build a loyal audience, when you do get monetized, you will have a loyal army of 1000 followers to watch your content.

Gaining subscribers on YouTube is not easy at all however, I have a monetized YouTube channel and I am building multiple channels at the moment. My son, who is 12 years old by the way as a monetized gaming channel and he gained 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time in less than three months, which is amazing. I am currently doing a challenge to get monetized in six weeks, wish me luck.

Here are some legit tips to help you build your YouTube channel and gain more subscribers in no time at all.

Post Consistent, High-Quality Content

The good news is, you don’t have to post every day to get monetized quickly. Post at least three times per week but make it good. On YouTube, there is no point posting random rubbish and hoping for the best.

You don’t need expensive, high-end equipment to start but try and make your content valuable. Your content should either entertain, inform or solve a problem, make sure it does that and try to post on the same day each week.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Saturday, at the same time each week. Try not to miss a day because your audience won’t trust you. They will switch off really quickly if you don’t keep up with your posting schedule.

Shorts

If you haven’t heard of YouTube Shorts then you must have been hiding under a very large rock for quite some time. YouTube Shorts are basically YouTube’s answer to Tik Tok video content.

The great thing about Shorts is, the simplicity of creating and posting content, they are quick, entertaining videos that entice people to subscribe to your channel. I can sit and watch Shorts for hours, they are addictive.

I would suggest posting at least eight to ten shorts per week if you are trying to grow your channel fast.

Search for trending content on Tik Tok and repost the content, just make sure you voice over to avoid copyright claims. For example, if you have a vegan channel, do a quick montage of Tik Tok vegan hacks. I did this last week and the video go 1.5k views in less than five hours. My plan is to post 100 shorts in the next two weeks.

When you post shorts, you will notice your subscriber count increase every time you post two or three shorts videos.

Comment on Large Channels

My son grew his channel in three months by commenting on large gaming channels. He subscribes to big channels and when he receives a new video notification, he tries to comment on the video first.

Collaborate

Collaborate, collaborate, collaborate! I can’t stress this enough! It’s just like guest posting on a blog but instead of writing content, you create video content instead. For example, you could collaborate on a giveaway or a weight loss challenge or personal development challenge. Just collaborate, you won’t regret it.

The best thing is to team up with someone that has the same amount of subscribers as you. You connect with their audience and they connect with yours.

Use Facebook

When I first started using Facebook to build my YouTube audience, I went about it the wrong way. I would join YouTube watch groups and it was the wrong way of building my audience. People would subscribe and watch two seconds of my video and they would never watch again. Also, YouTube removes spammy or fake subs therefore, there is no point doing it that way.

If you want to use Facebook to grow your audience, do it this way instead:

If you have a weight loss channel, find weight loss groups instead of YouTube groups. Interact on there and let people know that you are doing a weight loss challenge. Share your YouTube channel with them. Also, if you have a make money online channel, do the same thing, search for make money online Facebook groups and share your content on there.

YouTube watch groups are a waste of time unless you actively seek people who are interested in your content, mostly people just want you to watch their content and they don’t pay much attention to yours.

Pinterest is an amazing traffic source, you have to get it right though. Create a niche-specific Pinterest page and post lots of valuable content on there, share your YouTube content on there too.

I will do an in-depth article soon about Pinterest and how to use it to build your YouTube channel.

Think About Your Target Audience

When you are creating content, think about your target audience. For example, if you create content about parenting, your target audience will most likely be parents, mums and dads or just dads or mums.

Think about the age bracket, what problems do parents have that need solving? List questions that they might ask by going on forums and parenting groups, write down all the questions that parents might have and make videos to solve each problem. This one of the fastest ways to grow on YouTube, solve problems.

Here are some example questions:

How to get rid of colic naturally?

How to get my infant to sleep?

Are pacifiers harmful?

When should I stop breastfeeding?

Should my baby have his/her own room from birth?

How to get rid of nappy rash naturally?

Quora

Quora is one of the best places to search for popular questions. Post answers to questions by leaving your video link, add some brief information first and leave your link at the end of a short article that answers the question briefly.

You can also use Quora for content ideas, the more problems you solve, the more subscribers you will gain.

Ask

Finally, ask. It’s that simple, remind your viewers to subscribe at the start of your video, half way through and at the end. Add a subscribe image button to the lower right-hand corner of your video to remind people to subscribe.

Giveaway

Announce that you will be doing a giveaway at the end of a 30- day challenge if you get 1,000 subscribers by the end of the challenge. This will entice people to subscribe to your channel, don’t do a money giveaway though, the prize should be something that your target audience would like. Announce the giveaway when you get to 500 subs and let people know that when you reach 1000 subscribers, you will be doing a giveaway.

Final Thoughts

YouTube can help you to build your personal brand, gain an online presence and can drastically boost your income if you get it right. Use some or all of the suggestions in this article to help you build your subscriber count and get monetized faster.
