Not only was studying the stars her dream, but she was making it a reality. She was happily pursuing astrophysics as a major in college up until her Junior year.

Then came the friendly probing of a concerned mother. Shauna’s mother posed the question every college student dreads most, “where will this degree take you in life?” So Shauna knew it was time to figure out what her future would look like.

Scheduling a meeting with the head of the physics department, Shauna thought she would get answers, but after staring at the back of his head for 30 minutes, she started to develop doubts. Without even turning around to look her in the eye, the professor told her that she would have to spend 10+years studying and working to make it anywhere in the field.

For Shauna this was a crucial moment in her life. The meeting put her in a tough position. She wanted to use her analytical mind to have an impact on the world around her, but she didn’t want to get stuck in a room with years of solitary work ahead of her.

Shauna then went back to her mother who helped her re-focus by telling her, “you’re great with numbers, let’s go to the engineering or business college.”

The next semester, Shauna enrolled in a tax course at the business college believing it would combine the creativity of numbers with the strategic mind work she loved. She was right and her passion was ignited.

The Numbers Tell The Truth

It turns out Shauna’s passion was helping others navigate the confusing world of taxation.

But studying to become an astrophysicist was not a total loss. Her background provided her with a strong foundation in numbers, which is clearly a skill you want your tax specialist to have.

- Certification to be a Tax Coach

- Certification to be a Tax Strategist
