Repo Man
Repo Man is a cult camp classic from 1984, starring Emilio Estevez, along with a stellar lineup of character actors: Harry Dean Stanton, Sy Richardson, Tracey Walter, and Fox Harris. Fox Harris, in particular, is unforgettable as a crazed man driving around in a Chevy Malibu with dead aliens in the trunk. His character wears sunglasses with one lens missing, which somehow makes him even more unsettling. Harris, by the way, appeared in some truly oddball cinematic gems, like Stephen Sayadian’s Dr. Caligari (1989) and Fred Olen Ray’s Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (1988). If that doesn’t set the tone for Repo Man, nothing will.

In a quiet lake settled profound inside a rich, green backwoods, carried on with a local area of frogs who had a basic at this point agreeable existence. The water was cool, the lily cushions copious, and the bugs were plentiful. However, regardless of their untainted environmental elements, a feeling of smugness pervaded the air. The frogs would frequently sit on their lily cushions, relaxing in the sun, yet seldom wandered past the recognizable limits of their lake.

History of the World Part 1
Orson Welles opens History of the World, Part I with that iconic voice, delivering the kind of grandiose, overly serious narration he's famous for. But this time, instead of some high-minded historical documentary, he's setting the tone for Mel Brooks' riotous parody of history itself. The contrast between Welles' weighty delivery and the absurdity unfolding on screen is the first of many jokes in this film. Immediately, we’re introduced to a group of Neanderthals engaging in some very prehistoric frooging, bumping, and grinding. It’s a direct parody of 2001: A Space Odyssey, but where Kubrick went for awe and mystery, Brooks leans into the lewd and ludicrous. These cavemen aren’t interested in the mysteries of the monolith; they’re simulating a variety of sexual acts, reveling in crude humor, and setting the tone for the irreverent ride through history to come.

A Career Writing Objective Exceeded Times Two
Many of my reader(s) know that in my long career in various research microbiology roles there had been one career goal I had consistently failed to achieve. Since my earliest days of graduate school I had longed to contribute an original joke to the pantheon of classics that make up the niche oeuvre comprised of jokes about microbiology. In October of 2019 I finally stumbled upon one, and it was a beauty. Simple, elegant, funny, but only to a select group of fellow nerds, and best of all I could not find, nor have I yet, found a record of it having been thought of (or at least written down) previously. That joke has rapidly ascended to become an all time classic and is below.
