Top Story - September 2026

If by Full moonlight's glow - you should mayhap espy a wicked witch flying by upon her broomstick, her Carpet Bag plump full to overflowing...then you should waste no time...hurry, oh please, do hurry to do the "Witching Spit and Turn".

...Spit once to the to the east...ptuiii!!!

...Spit twice to the west - ptuii, ptuii!!!

...Spin around three times - you may become a tad bit dizzy

...Clap your hands three times to the north - clap. clap, clap.

...Clap your hands three times to the south - clap, clap, clap.

...Dip and Fall Back (curtsy as low as you can and step back).

...Then stand up straight

...Stand stock still. Do not move!!!!

The witch can not see down, only straight ahead...unless you mix your directions up.

Now, be very careful to remember the directions precisely... should you mix and jumble your directions, Freida will come for you.

Ok. So my brain being in forgetful mode...and the moon being fully full...and humans associating the full moon with changes in behavior. You see, the term “lunacy” originates from the Latin word luna, reflecting the belief that lunar phases could induce madness or irrationality.

Furthermore, I was walking by the ocean... And during the full moon, the gravitational pull of the Sun, Earth, and Moon aligns, causing the oceans to bulge slightly more than usual. This alignment results in higher high tides and lower low tides compared to an average day.

What's the ocean got to do with it? You may ask. Well...

All of these elements combined to make my brain become discombobulated, startled and dumbfounded.

WATEVER IT WAS...As I walked by the ocean, beneath the moon, who should come flying by way up in the sky silhouetted against the moon.

You guessed it...It was Freida, carpet bag bulging...filled with those who forgot the right directions of the witch repelling spell. I tried my best to remember the directions for the directions.

Oh Lord...which way should I spit first. Is it east or west. Panicking...I -

...Spit once to the to the west...ptuiii!!!

...Spit twice to the east - ptuii, ptuii!!!

...Spin around three times - you may become a tad bit dizzy

...Clap your hands three times to the south - clap. clap, clap.

...Clap your hands three times to the north - clap, clap, clap.

...Then stand up straight

...Stand stock still!!!!

...Dip and Fall Back (curtsy as low as you can and step back).

Freida let out a loud and awful cackle - dipped her broomstick to low...and swooped. Oh my stars...I must have recited the words all wrong. I tried to run...but where to hide, the trees were too far away and the beach was lit bright by the moonlight as if it were day.

I tried again.... "Spit once to the north...ptuii".

The witch cackled even louder....dropped the bag and simply waited.

I found myself spinning around and around...rolling towards the bag. It simply opened and in I went. I felt it rising...then Freida laughed horridly as away we went, up, up into the sky.

One day later, she dropped me back on earth as a black cat...with instructions to walk under as many ladders as I could.

A black cat walking under a ladder is considered doubly unlucky.

A ladder leaning against a wall forms a triangle, symbolizing the Holy Trinity, and passing through it was seen as breaking this sacred shape, inviting misfortune.

Apparently, Freida's plan is to turn us all into cats, so she can rule the world of cats.

...........................................................

OK RMS...I confess...I made this one up.
