Writing Tips From a Lifelong Writer

I am a lifelong writer. Writing since I was four years old, I am now 46. Over the years, I have written for different reasons. Writing in several forms and genres. Using a pen name at times and others using my real name. More often than not I have written for fun or just to share my one true love writing. There are many lessons to be learned from writing. Here are a few tips from lifelong writer.

Writing Tips From a Lifelong Writer: Know What You Want From Your Writing

Know what you want from your writing. This is very important because the way you write will be different depending on what you want from your writing. Some people write for fun and to share their work with others. They write for the joy of writing, nothing more. Therapy writing is another form of writing. Some people write to share their stories with others in order to help themselves and others heal.

If all you want from your writing is to share it with others, you can just write when the feeling hits you. I highly recommend any writer try to write consistently though. This is so your followers know when to look for your recent work.

If you are looking to make a little extra money with your writing. Set up a plan for your writing and stick to it. This is where most writers fit in. Many writers want to share their work and they are happy when they make a little something with their writing.

If you are looking to make a living with your writing, I will give you some advice. If you are looking to make a living writing set up your own blog. This will give you a chance to let publishers know what your writing style is like and help with example articles. Do freelance work as much as possible. Look into magazines and paid writing site. Looking for work will take up a lot of your time.

Writing Tips From a Lifelong Writer: Write For You

This is one many will disagree with but it has worked for me. Many people out there are looking for the same things you are. We all want to be happy. We have all gone through pain. Write posts to help people in any way you can. Write about the things you want to learn about. Compose stories about what you have gone through. You never know who you will help with what you write. You may end up helping people get through bad points in their lives. Think about the questions you had in your teen years and answer them. Write the novel you always wanted to read. There is nothing wrong with writing for yourself. Remember, there are many other people out there who most likely have the same interests and questions you do. Write for you and you will help others at the same time.

Writing Tips From a Lifelong Writer: Bottom Line

The bottom line is for me writing should always have a purpose. I have been writing all my life because I enjoy it. Far too many people write because they think you can rich quick. That is not true. It takes a lot of work and dedication to make a living writing.

People can feel your passion coming through in the things that you write about. When people feel your passion, they will read your work. All writers writ through the soul and that it the way it is meant to be.
