What love really is.

A decision to consciously remember your willingness to sacrifice everything living or dead in order to keep safe the object of your love. A devotion so powerful that it becomes the reason for every other action you take. The first action itself being the willingness to love.

Love.

I wonder what you think when you hear the word "love".

Do you think of a person? I feel for most people, the definition of love is tied to a person.

Do you think of a place? Some places have been privileged to obtain the love of some people. Most especially because of the memories they have of being there.

Do you think of an animal? People sometimes are fond of pets.

Do you think of a thing? An object that you so much love.

Do you think about life? How you wouldn't be able to feel love, if not for the fact that you are alive.

Do you think about your children? That's if you have any.

All scenarios have one thing in common. All being beneficiaries of people's emotions of love.

What love really is though is not the romance it's painted out to be. The feelings of euphoria, capable of transporting you to a paradise of perfection.

Love itself is a commitment.

A decision to consciously remember your willingness to sacrifice everything living or dead in order to keep safe the object of your love. A devotion so powerful that it becomes the reason for every other action you take. The first action itself being the willingness to love.

What love really is cannot be fully understood nor explained. But if asked, every one will admit to being familiar with the feelings of love.

The Bible has a verse which states in part that " for God so loved the world"

Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet, a story supposedly about love.

I've watched the Titanic movie, I don't know about you. The Twilight Saga is another movie I'd recommend you watch, to understand symbolically the expression of what love really is.

A lot of songs have been written and sang about love.

Some people have terrible tales to tell about being in love while others will say it's a beautiful feeling.

The people who are unlucky in love have over the course of history, because of the feelings of heart break taken drastic actions, to the detriment of their lives sometimes which has me wondering what love really is, that it could make some people careless about their own lives.

While for the people who are lucky in love, the feelings are so exquisite that it can be compared to nothing else. It must be love they would say and they most likely will be contented to be in love for the rest of their lives.

A binding contract is not as binding as the feelings of love and if broken, the outcome always leads to a painful and heartbreaking feeling capable of transporting you to the bottom less pit of devastation.

Honestly, I'll admit that I am no expert on the topic of what love really is. I can only say that I've loved and I'm still loving.

My experiences have been a privilege and a curse. Sometimes it brought me to tears and other times it brightened up my life. I realized that there is no way to live without love. The love of a spouse, or of your favourite music, the love of God, the love of siblings, the love of art, of dance, of tattoos, and piercings. The love of parents, of strangers. The love of travel, of crime and policing, of sports and drama and most especially the love of money amidst so much more.

I then discovered that there are so many ways to love. And so many things to love. Out of all these things though I have to admit that loving life itself is what I cherish most.

Being able to feel, to taste, to hear, to see and to smell. These five senses coupled with the brain's ability to remember.

What love really is. I don't know what you think it should be about, but for your sake I hope that like me, you can say that you have loved and are still loving.
