There are a lot of household tricks that can make your job easier. Some of them first appeared in newspapers in 1900. However, they are little known. We present to you the most important ones. They will help you!

Very old household tricks, few people have heard of:

How to detect a gas leak.

A gas leak can turn into a tragedy if you don't act quickly. When you feel that pungent, characteristic odor, quickly mix a mixture of soap and water. Apply the solution along the entire length of the gas line. You will easily discover the problem area. In the place where gas leaks, large bubbles will be created!

How to collect shards.

The broom or the vacuum cleaner is not the best solution to get rid of the shards scattered around the house. Gather even the smallest shards with a cloth soaked in water. It will collect even the smallest fragments of glass and thus you will avoid future accidents.

How to stabilize a vase.

Many vases are made of very light ceramic products. Beautiful, but not at all efficient! They are light and can be shed quickly. To avoid such a nuisance, add some sand to the vase. It will be more stable!

How to remove a wooden chip from leather.

The needle/tweezers method can be annoying and dangerous. If you dig too deep into the skin, you may infect the area! In addition, there is no guarantee that the chip will come out completely. Therefore, apply a more efficient method. Fill a container (a glass jar) with almost boiled boiling water, then apply by pressing the mouth of the container on the area where the chip is. It will act as a suction cup, pulling the chip out.

It cools the wine faster than in the fridge.

The wine cools in the fridge, but not as fast as you probably would like! For quick cooling, wrap the wine bottle in a towel, then place it in a container of cold water. Ideally, place the glass container under a stream of cold water. It will cool much faster than in the fridge.

How to cut fresh bread without breaking it.

Due to the crust and under the pressure of the knife, the fresh bread crumbles and does not look good at all. To avoid this inconvenience, place a kettle of boiling water next to the bread. The steam will soften the crust and you can slice the bread as thin as possible.

The matchstick doesn't go out as easily! The matchstick stick seems easy, but if the wind blows it goes out just as quickly. That's if you don't make a few notches right next to the pinhead! These notches have the role of enlarging the flame. This way, the match will not go out so easily.

Ammonia extinguisher. For small fires that can occur in your home, you have a much better solution than water, which can cause more harm than good! Mix 700 grams of salt, 350 grams of ammonium chloride, and about 1.5 liters of water. Put the solution in bottles. Pour the solution on the flame very carefully!

How to remove a nail without twisting it. The nail cracks quickly when removed, especially if it is longer. You can avoid this situation by placing a piece of wood under the pliers with which you want to remove the nail.

How to separate two glasses stuck in each other.

Glasses held in each other often freeze. You can try to pull the one above, but you risk breaking them. Apply a smarter method! Pour cold water into the glass above, and hold the bottom of the one below a bowl of boiling water. Due to the steam, the bottom glass will widen slightly and you will be able to separate it from the top one.

How to keep a flower fresh without light and water.

A flower can last a week without light and water if you put the end of its stem in a potato.

How to distinguish butter from margarine.

Margarine is usually yellow, and the butter should be white. If you're not sure, you can taste it. If you are still not convinced, apply this method: spread a little cream on a piece of paper, then set the paper on fire. If it is butter, you will smell sweet and appetizing.

Instead, margarine will give off an unpleasant odor, resembling fried lard.
