We all have traits that we would like to improve on or change. It is either one we acquired during childhood or through life experiences that shaped us into the people we are today.

There are positive traits that can improve our personality and help us become the person we desire, work on our goals and accomplish success. On the other hand, there are the destructive traits that work to subconciously limit our growth and block our blessings. We might not be actively aware of them. They work behind the scenes and control our behavior and outlook on life in general.

In order to grow as a person and accomplish our goals, our challenge is to identify the negative self limiting traits that we have. This can be a tough experience, but we dive into the internal factors that are holding us from achieving our goals and becoming the person we are meant to be, it will have a freeing transformative effect on our life.

I'll discuss the two main traits that limit us physically, intellectually and spiritual as well as the reason behind why they do so.

Before I dive into the piece, lets discuss a few important points to avoid any potential misunderstanding and confusion.

Please Note:

  • This piece is not meant to attack or belittle people, nor is it meant to generalize.
  • It is more to bring attention to the two traits I personally find to slow down or limit one’s progress in life, in general. Traits are replaceable and can be improved or changed slightly. Each trait has good and bad sides and they both should be considered.
  • The article is not designed to point fingers or shift the blame away from external factors. We need to understand that external factors also play a role in limiting our growth, but they only do so once you allow them to be in control of your mindset and dictate your actions.
  • Remember, you are in control of your life and no matter how destructive the external factors are, you are stronger!
  • In the context of this piece, I am mainly referring to the business world rather than personal life. Yet it can also apply in personal life where necessary. In order to succeed and move on in the work-life, we need to have a positive and driven attitude and motivation to succeed.

The two types of people that are more likely to struggle with progressing in life are the arrogant and the shy.

The arrogant are usually stuck in their ways, refusing to accept or initiate transformative change.

By doing so they stop their blessing from coming through because they are too fixed to their habits and limiting beliefs.

Therefore, they may have a harder time diving into unknown territory, especially in work-life situations.

They lack the mindset needed to accept new beliefs, ideas, and flexible ways of doing things.

On the other hand, shy individuals struggle to stand up for themselves and communicate their talents and needs in fear of judgment or confrontation.

Therefore, they are more likely to lose on life-changing positive opportunities, possibly due to a lingering fear of being looked down upon or not being good enough.
